I Hope....Just went "back the future" and installed an AMD 64 on an Asus K8 board in, of all things, a "pizza box" desktop.
I'd forgotten how easy it was to have the monitor standing higher in front of you and your drives at desk height. Now here's my next "Helldog's Oddball, Dumbass Question" (pat. pend) for this month:
I'm looking for a box to hold an assortment of peripheral drives, both USB2 and SATA just so I can get some of this odd-sized and mishapen shit off my rack.
It doesn't need to hold a MB....all has to do is hold some DVDRW drives and some hard drive rack/trays...(not looking for a backplane cage) I just want a box with six or eight 5 1/4 bays HORIZONTALLY...is that so much to ask? One 300w PS inside and I'll make all the connections through the back panel.
Looked around and the mini server cubes are bad and the 4U rackmounts are ridiculous...I am NOT giving anybody 2-400 bucks for a non-mission-critical box.
Does anybody make a kit type box with a "modular" front? Kind of along the same idea lines as the older FrontX connection bay?
