On Drudge it's reported that comedian Buddy Hackett died late Sunday night at his home in LA. He was 79.

Hackett was invited at one time to join the 3 Stooges, something I didn't know. He declined.

His film roles never remotely approached his comic genius. I saw him on a HBO special & he was funnier than Robin Williams & nastier than Richard Prior.

Every time he was on the Johnny Carson show & they came back from commercial break, Carson would be wiping tears from his eyes from jokes Hackett would tell off air.

If you get a chance, see his HBO special, the first one.

I actually thought he was pretty funny, when I would see him on tv in the '70s.
