Anyone else love this movie? I never see it talked about.

Kurt Russell and a sweet mullet out in the desert searching for his mysteriously disappeared wife. Also JT Walsh. What's not to love?

It's one of those movies that I use when we play the "Movies That Would Have Been Over in Five Minutes if the Protagonist Carried a Gun When Visiting Strange Places" game.

Not really in this case. By the time Kurt Russell finds out who the bad guys are and would have use for a firearm; he also knows that they have his wife hostage and killing them would kill her. Plus they would've just disarmed him while he was unconscious.
