I finally got a copy of this BBC produced movie and it is definately the best Gulf War movie yet. Much better than Three Kings or that stupid Meg Ryan flick.

The combat scenes were great. Not graphic like Saving Private Ryan, but Technically accurate. Lots of M16, Minimi & M203 action.

The movie is a little slow at parts, but it has the burden of being a true story, and to their credit they kept it accurate rather than embelishing.

Unfortunately the movie is not available in the US so you will have to find a way to get a copy from Canada.

From the Amazon.com UK site:

Is it VHS or DVD?
Does Canada use the same VHS system that the US does?
I know the the UK doesn't.
I have been waiting to see this movie.
I might just read the book again to hold me over.

Yes, all of North America uses the same encoding.
It's strange that I cant order the tape from a Video store in Detroit, but I can cross over into canada and buy as many as I want and bring them back. I guess the BBC doesnt think there is any American interest in the film?

Sixgun357:
It's about an SAS team sent into Iraq (Desert Storm)to locate scud sites and destroy them.
The team Bravo Two Zero gets split up.
Two books were written by two team members.
Bravo Two Zero by Andy McNab.
The One That Got Away by Chris Ryan.
Both excellent reads.

I live only an hour away from the Canadian border, but I'll probably have to go all the way to Winnepeg to get one. Is it legal for me to go buy a bunch of them there and bring them back? If so, maybe I can hook everyone up!

Or maybe Stryker or some other of our Canuck memebers can hook us up!???

Is that Meg Ryan flick "Thanks of a Greatful Nation?"

No. It's the first Gulf War film. Meg Ryan is a Army medic who is recommended for the CMOH and Denzel Washignton is doing an investigation into the CMOH warrant. Also has Lou Diamond Phillips in it i think?

Nevertheless, SAS aficionados and fans of the novel will enjoy it immensely, if only to look at the way in which McNab's account presents Chris Ryan--author of a drastically different film and novel version of this incident, The One That Got Away--as a posturing, image-conscious coward. The video also includes an exclusive 22-minute interview with the author, Andy McNab.

Seems to be somewhat of a rift between Andy and Chris...

Can anybody get their hands on this. Thanks for the UK video info. I almost ordered it. Didnt Mcnab die recently?

Courage Under Fire was the name of the Meg Ryan/Denzel Washington movie...also had Lou Diamond Phillips and Matt Damon.
It was actually a VERY good movie, despite AR15fan's feelings on the matter.

PAL is a different format.  Kind of like Beta vs VHS, sort of.

It did seem to me that both of the above writers
bad mouthed each other in their books.
I think that there were nine team members in Bravo Two Zero. They got split up and each book tells the story of each half of the team.

VHS TAPE PLEASE...........

Basically "PAL" is the type of information Encoding used on European VHS tapes. These will not work with North American VCR's.

However the Canadians use the North American encoding and VHS movies sold there will work with American VCRs.

So get your copy from Canada, not the UK!

BTW: Canadians are selling pre-veiwed Bravo Two Zero tapes for about $35.00 on Ebay! That's a hefty Markup for a tape that sells for about $18.00USD.

If you got the VCR tape, you need a PAL TV (and VCR I think?)  If you order the DVD, you'll have to have a DVD player that can play Region 2 (Europe, Japan, and Middle East) encoded DVDs.  (I have an Apex AD-600A, and it'll do any region [:P])  Hope this helps.

It vame in my X- Mas stocking last year. My wife got it for me. I am in the UK now. This is the limited edition DVD and it also has the South African weapons training the actors had to go thru. I did no like the fact that one of the 203s in the film has a 37mm launcher. The book is better, or perhaps my imagination is more active than the directors. GREAT movie nonetheless.
