All you braggarts'. Oregon graduated to a C- up from a D+. Thanks to our on citizens voting in a "background check" on all gunshow sales. What our idiots don't understand is they get a MAKE, MODEL, CALIBER & TYPE, PLUS ALL PERSONAL INFO. SS NUMBER,DRIVERS LICENSE NUMBER, & THUMB PRINTS. They only get to keep this info on file for FIVE YEARS!!!!!!!! Then it's destroyed!!!! Ya, right. Take you piece to your favorite gunshop to sell, then go back to retrieve it, guess what, another background check with the FEE paid for by you. Ain't life grand??? Well, it could be worse, I could live in CA, MA, NJ, NY, or some of them other great places that probably got A's.

Wisconsin got a C+.

Maybe after we pass CCW this year, we'll get a D-.  I can only hope....

Interestingly enough, WI has CCW pending along with Ohio.  Both states also have cases in front of or on their way to their respective state supreme courts to decide whether the current CCW prohibitions are constitutional.  The issues are a bit different in each state, but maybe that will help influence the politicians.

It's going to be a tense year waiting this one out.  I'm directing all my anxious energy toward getting people to write to their legislators.  I hope I have good news for you in January of 2003.

I wonder how some good honest statistics would compare to their grading criteria, such as comparing gun mishaps in Kentucky vs say Kalifornia. Most likely isnt favorable to the anti gunners or the Comrade Brady Campaign would have most certainly used them.

We got a D+ in Florida. A few miles down the road, Alabama got an F.

I guess, the 3 Day wait for handguns which all the gun control groups claim doesn't exist, the ban on Destructive Devices, and bans on a wnumber of exotic types of ammo. such as incindiary, flachettes, bolos, etc...got us slightly above F. Well, that and the fact our Pre-emption was fucked up in 1998 by Amendment 12 which allows a 5 Day wait in Liberal Areas.

Strange thing is that before 1998, we had a C-. I wonder what we had before 1991, when the Right to keep arms was added to the State Constitution. Sorry, bear is specifically not listed.

Strange thing is that Maryland is the only state that got an A and nobody got an A+.

Hmm, kinda makes you wonder if the criteria for an A+ is an outright ban on all guns.

And they Take away 'points' just because your state has the RIGHT to carry??

(CCW) ? whether individuals are allowed to carry loaded concealed guns and whether the police are forced to issue concealed carry permits or have some discretion to limit the carrying of concealed weapons in public. Grades may be raised or lowered based on whether a state sets strong limits or standards for issuing such permits and whether they recognize permits issued by other states.

Ohhhh, and the brady's decided to kiss the asses of the states that have watiing periods above and beyond federal standards, and/or let ppl sue firearms mfg's (am I reading the "legal immunity" thing right?

Additionally, states were awarded "extra credit" or demerits on other issues, ranging from the special legal immunity protection extended to the gun industry, to waiting periods and licensing requirements and additional measures related to reducing gun violence among young people.
