ok, Im not a troll. Just dont have much time to post.
My question is this. For those of you married or otherwise in a long term relationship and your wife or SO is on the pill are you using a secondary form of Birth control? If so what are ya using and if not how long have you been taking the gamble on the pill alone without worry. My wife and I have 4 kids already ranging in ages from 5 to 17 and we dont want anymore. We have been relying on the pill and the Pull out method with success for the last 6 years. Im looking into getting cut as well, just cant afford the downtime from work right now and the Pull out method is getting a little old. How safe is it to rely on the pill alone? |

well im going on five years with just the pill and i still only have one kid. the pill is pretty damned solid if your lady takes it at teh same time every day from what her doc told her. It's the people who do not follow it dwn to the minute that account for the .2 percent that get pregnant on it. |

Been using the pill alone by itself for YEARS... no pull out method... and no kids for us. (knock on wood)
Your wife has to be religious about taking it, for example take it at the same time every day (+/- 2-3 hours) and not miss any days. I leave it in the bathroom near my toothbrush, so I remember every morning- its not that hard. Funny story that might help you a little- one time I went into the doc's office to get the morning after pill because we had forgotten to double up (pill + condom). They asked "Have you missed any pills" ... I said no. "Do you take it at the same time every day?"... I said yes. Then they laughed at me and said I was panicking for no reason- and they said that as long as you are taking the pill correctly, as I was, there is nothing to worry about. They gave me a Plan B anyway, but it made me realize that it must be really good. Sorry about the detailed TMI post- just thought I'd be open and honest. |

Downtime? How long do you think it takes to recover from a vasectomy? Have it done on a Friday and you are back ready to go on Monday. Ok, back ready for work that is, not the sexy time.
I got mine after my third kid. It sure takes the effort out worrying about birth control. |

My doctor cousin had it done and it almost did him in....not for the..........average person I think. |

| My Wife and I welcomed our 3rd kid to the world on November 28th. She was conceived on the pill. Prior to that we had used the pill successfully for 13 years minus the 2 planned children. She took it at the same time everyday and never missed a day. It is not infallible. I'm getting the big V on the 13th. |

Lady was on the pill and currently is on the Nuva Ring. Never pulled out. 5 years. No kids. Mine tried that and it gave her a case of the crazy. Everything but spitting pea soup. She'd take it out on schedule and I'd get my girl back for a few days, then she'd start screaming for Father Karras within a day of the next ring. It worked as birth control though, because trying to have sex with her was somewhat akin to attempting to dress a cranky feral cat in a tutu. I don't think the Nuva Ring was the right choice for my wife, but that doesn't mean it's going to do the same thing to every woman. That's one of the reasons there's so many different brands and styles of hormonal birth control. |

Wife was on pill for first 4 years we were together, no other protection and no kids. Went off the pill, had kid number one and now she has an IUD. No way I could stand having to use rubbers, might as well just go beat off. This... FWIW, my girl's on the pill, no pregnancies that weren't planned. I'd also rather beat off than wear a condom

Every girlfriend i've had since I was 16 (I'm 36 now) has been on the pill. Never had any issues, not once never.
IF THEY TAKE IT PROPERLY, no issues, no worries and no problems. Only problem I've ever seen was when women get switched to different pills (for whatever reason), after being on brand X for x number of years. The change in hormones can cause some side effects. My one ex was switched to a generic pill and her tits got bigger and she added some weight, almost over night. We were terrified that she was knocked up. But she wasn't, got off the generics the next month and she returned to normal. |

Just man up and get snipped. It's not a huge deal. You'll be sore for a few days. A week later you should be about back to normal. You WILL, however, need to use another form of birth control until you get get two "clean" sample results back from the lab. Generally takes 30-50 ejaculations post snippage to clear you out.
AV1611 out..... |

Had both my kids while she was on the pill... Also knocked her up with an IUD in place, no way to save the pregnancy...
We are done now. She is getting snipped on the 14th (Our 1 year wedding anaver.) Then it's my turn to open up the sack and snip, snip... Worst part is she was a high risk preg, no sex for the last six months, no sex six weeks after the birth (kid is 5 weeks old) and no sex for like 3 months after the tubes knotted off!!!! I am a lonely, lonely man... At this rate I could fap to this thread.. |

Pill was 100% effective for us. Down side was she was much moodier, and almost never in the mood.
We had 2 kids, the first was conceived 6 weeks after she went off the pill. The pill worked in between, and she conceived a 2nd time within 12 weeks of going off the pill the 2nd time. IUD has been 100% effective for us ever since. She has been "in the mood" much more frequently. YMMV |

No downtime from work with a vasectomy. I went back the next day. -p. This, basically. They usually do the procedure on a Friday. By monday, most guys go back to work. If you lift heavy things / construction / etc. you will need at least a week off. I was pretty sore for about 2 weeks but was back to riding my mountain bike on the 8th day after the procedure. |
