Need to degrease a shotgun receiver sso I can put on a hunk of Velcro with the adhesive back on the receiver & then attach a side saddle shell carrier that velcro's on & off the shotgun...
Anywhoo, what's the best way to clean/prep the receiver o the adhesive sticks the best. |

Never thought about brake cleaner thanks It's a Raven Concealment ModuLoader 5-Shell Plate & been told they work great & hold up to heat/cold and hard use sofigured it's worth a shot as nobody makes a plastic rivet on side sadle carrier for my shotgun. http://raven-concealment-systems1.mybigcommerce.com/moduloader-5-shell-plate/ Quoted:
Just use 2 sided tape and stick each round to the side of the receiver. BTW, how does the Velcro hold up to heat? I will help you. It won't. If you still love this idea, try brake cleaner. |

isopropyl alcohol is cheap and pretty much non-toxic (get the 91% stuff). It does a great job of cutting grease, removing oily films, etc. I keep a bottle of it around and slop in on whatever I need to clean up. Works great!
BTW, it also removes ink. It dries out poison ivy, too. |

What's the difference between the 91% and the 99% ?????

What's the difference between the 91% and the 99% ????? IIRC, my local stores don't carry 99 percent. It's either "rubbing alcohol" which is a lower percentage, or the 91 percent. Hell, I may have the actual percentages all screwed up. I probably should have just suggested buying the strongest stuff you can buy. |

You trying to just degrease the spot for the stickies OP, or the whole receiver?
What type of finish does it have? Alcohol works nicely if you just want to clean up a small spot for adhesion purposes. (like those guys were saying) Those little alcohol swabs are nice, but a bottle is alot cheaper. If you are doing the whole receiver, and it doesn't have some type of painted finish, then I'd spray that baby off with (NON chlorinated) brake clean. (like those guys were saying) |

That's odd, mine has held up for 4 years on my shotgun. I must have done something wrong. Can you tell me how to do it so it falls off? |
