I'm looking for some software to edit video clips. It will need the following features: 1. Easy to use. 2. Must be able to add effects and graphics. 3. Must be able to add at least 2 separate audio tracks, more would be better. 4. Runs on XP. What I'd like to do is produce something similar to reality tv, with overlapping narration/music. My goal is to shoot some documentary type footage of local musicians and have it come out looking semi-professional. Any ideas? |
umm, try about 1100 for the software. trust me im on the internet. |
The only way to make it look professional is to know what makes up a pro-edit. Fancy software can actually make it worse and befuddle you. Adobe Premier is one of those really great but rather complex programs. If you don't mind the learning curve, go for it. Otherwise just pick up some iMovie type software that is simple and easy to use. Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 is good and only $99.00. |

This is all very helpful. I do currently own a G3 Mac, but it is 10 years old & running 9.0 I recently had a PC built up with high end components and will want to use the XP platform for my video editing. The main features that I definitely need are multitrack audio (4+ tracks), fade in/out , slow motion and on screen graphics. I like the drag and drop method shown on the Adobe CS3 demo, but in reality that program might be a bit overkill for my needs. |
Lol, which model G3? Beige or blue? I had a beige G3 333. (OC'd that bad boy to 405 or something) Oh man, those were the days. Loved that computer. *edit: Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 should do the trick without the cost or initial complexity. When you figure out the basics and get good at it, go get Premier Pro. |
It is a blue one running at 333. It does well for web surfing and can actually handle my ancient version of Photoshop. Adobe Premiere Elements looks pretty good. I see they offer all sorts of transitions that I won't use, but can't tell if they offer just a basic fade in/fade out. I'm also assuming that you can produce movies without having to use one of their preset themes? |
dont touch editing software with that mac man. it cannot take it. also make shure you have at minimum 2 gigs of ram and alot of hd space. rendering is going to kill any system youve got for 30min blocks |
