Thinking about getting a new desktop through tigerdirect.  Which video card would be the best?

 ATI Radeon 9200SE 8X 128MB DDR AGP Card w/ TV-Out

  GeForceFX 5200-8X 128MB Video Card w/TV Out  (Add $10.00)

ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB DDR w/TV Out  (Add $219.99)

  ATI Radeon 9800SE 128MB AGP with TV-Out  (Add $99.99)

GeForce FX5600-8X 128MB Video Card with TV Out  (Add $49.99)

Not sure if I want to spend $220 though...
Would be used entirely for blood and guts, i.e. gaming.

I wouldn't buy anything below a ATI 9600 or Geforce 5600 Ultra card!  The 9200 and 5200 are bare basic cards, great for most things except games.

It really depends on how much you want to spend. Based on my experiences, Id go with nvidia.

I have the ATI Radeon 9500 pro and it freezes my computer at least once a day. (I think it's just some random conflict.) My old nvidia 32mb TNT2 never gave me any problems, so Im staying nvidia from now on.

Id say the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. I have the same card as SuperChicken(ATI Radeon 9500Pro) but don't have any conflicts or problems. I play Hi-res games online and single player. Usually Raven Shield.

I'd get the 9800 pro - the reviews have them ahead of the nvidia chips.

Plus you can get one now for $199 at mwave.com - save yourself $20.

I have a Raedon 9500 pro and have zero problems.  I play a lot of UT2004 with everything maxed out and the thing never skips a beat.  It's a very good card for $200 (probably less now, I got mine almost a year ago).

That's a damn good price for a 9800, go for it (ordering one as I type)

I used to be a serious NVidia fan but ATI finally got their shit in one sock and is kicking ass.

My current card is a 9700 Pro and it rocks.

I just picked up an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro w/128 MB RAM for $121.  It's not a 9800, but it's close, and the price difference was enough to justify it.  [:)]

NewEgg.com has the best prices.

Thanks for the info!  Been a while since I had to buy a desktop and actually put some thought into it.
