Just got a new house and want to put in a good system. I would like to have a camera and have it all be accessed with my phone. What  does everyone here recommend and why?

Been watching this one for replies, and it hasn't happened yet, so I'll throw in my couple of cents and hopefully you'll get some more info.

I just got done doing an install of an Ademco-Honeywell Vista 20p. House was just built and had home run wires to all the downstairs windows and doors, as well as for three keypads and two IR motion sensors, so the hard part was already done for me. Installing the box and programming was not difficult. Honeywell seems to be one of the more common standard systems out there. I haven't looked at internet/phone control or cameras yet. I know that most companies are very proprietary regarding their net protocols, and many require account subscriptions with the manufacturer to get the thing talking over IP.

Last part about IP stuff could be not completely correct –– if it's wrong, hopefully someone will correct me, because I'd love to get my system online as well.

What about commercial systems like ADT?  GE Security? Dehart?

I've been using Frontpoint Security for several years and am quite happy with it.

It's all wireless, you buy whatever equipment you want, install it yourself, and best of all, take it with you if you move.

Frontpoint

If you decide to go with it, PM me. I think I get a free month of service for recommending someone.

"He also has a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney and a genius-level IQ of 160"
fucking REALLY?????

I have alarm.com hardware/service and I've been happy with it. I like being able to monitor the system (no cameras yet) from my smartphone
