This is so funny!

I don't care if it's a dupe

Got to at least give him balls for posting that vid.

Haha what an idiot. I see this at the gym all the time. Small people who have inferiority complexes or something and they try to lift weight heavier then the biggest guys at the gym. Form is always awful, they accomplish nothing, and just waste their time.

Bet he takes all kinds of sick supplements too bro. My biggest piece of advice to anyone wanting to lift is figure out your daily calorie needs. Get on fitday tracker and input everything you eat. Count all your calories and manage your macros. You'll be amazed at the gains you can make and how you can control your body by tracking everything you eat. Otherwise, you're just wasting time.

Wow, could have died with that on his neck and he knew it. He had THE FEAR there for a second.

That'll teach him to not overestimate his own abilities/not have a spotter AND use clips/weight retainers on the bar.

He was desperate when he started yelling for mom

What an idiot. If he were using a real 45lb bar and lifting in something larger than a hobbit hole he could have simply laid one side or another on the ground and stood the bar up.

fools will be fools.

LOL

When lifting by yourself take the collars off your water weights.  Either that or have your mommie spot you.

He wasn't smart enough to dump the weight.

He should have rolled it down his chest towards his hips and once there he could sit up

he's lucky it didn't fall on both sides there at the end when he had to struggle to get out from underneath it.

Why didnt he just dump it on the floor?

Yep

Grip is way too close, all arm and little chest with that narrow a grip.  Needs a longer bar.

I think each of the large ones is 10lbs so I am thinking around 90lbs

Nice flutter kick when the bar started crushing his neck.

Yep!  I was laughing all the way up until that point.  Then when I saw that he was ok I started laughing again.

This reminds me.  I need to clear all the crap off of my "storage rack" and start lifting again.  I've gotten pretty lazy over this last year.

Doesn't help that the support rack is narrow and is where his hands need to be

When I started working out with a buddy we had twice the amount that guy had, but your forearms should be straight and NEVER LIFT ALONE. After we could put anymore plastic weights on the bar I decided to go to a real gym.

I thought the same thing.

Never was very huge, but I certainly had some good free-weight mentoring from a competitive power lifter.  He helped me learn the "get a spotter or leave the collars off" lesson.

I think the big ones are 20s, aren't they.  I haven't used anything buy olympic weights for 25 years now, so I can't remember.  Anyway, what a tard.

Big fail

Been there done that before when lifting by myself.  Can't believe the dumb shit would take his hands off the bar when it's sitting just over his throat.

[#36]
And that is why I started lifting a bare bar and built up from there and have zero reservations about asking someone to spot me and I don't lift heavy.  A guy at the gym ended up in the same position  as the guy in the video with about 90# on his chest.  He didn't say anything because he was embarrased.  By the time I got to him two other people were lifting it off of him. Scary stuff.

Reminder, take action quickly when you have no spotter.  Use your remaining strength to get one side to the floor before your arms turn to such buttersticks that you can't shift it off your chest..

Of course, the first lesson is...  have a spotter.

That's why I only use dumbbells if I am bench pressing by myself.

Benching heavy weight without a spotter is fucking stupid.

I only have dumbbells and a bench at home for that exact reason - to keep me from getting stupid. Right now, they also make a nifty long-term storage table.

Wow to that video. That's exactly why I use my thumb to hold the bar in my hand. Or else it'll slip out like it did that guy

And that's why I do heavy bench in my squat rack with my pins set to catch it if I fail.

a great example of why you should use a spotter
