Found this Mini 30 while window shopping on Sat.  It was pretty beat up cosmetically but internals looked new.  I've always had a soft spot for the Mini 30s (this is the 4th one I've owned.....keep selling them to fund other projects and keep coming back )

Since getting into ARs and learing about all the custom options available, I had to make some changes immediately.

I swapped the wood stock for a black synthetic folding paratrooper type.....I didn't like all the mold marks and there seemed many color variations in the plastic.  Fired up the sandblaster and gave a rough surface for the paint to adhere to.  Finished it up with base coat of Fusion Tan and then final color Tan ultra flat.  Wrapped the wire stock with Tan chute cord and viola!

I always wanted a Mini 30, ahd the odd mini 14, nice beater rifles (and don't anybody start withthe ARs are better ebcause they are more accirate bullshit, up here we cannot hunt with an A bt we can with the mini)

Are those Mini30 mags or did you do a mod to use AK mags?  (I have never seen lare cap mini30 mags before)

I got this one to keep under the seat of my BOSUV (bug-out SUV).  The mags are a mix of 5, 10, 20 and 30 rds...they came with the rifle--I would have bought better quality than these USA brand, even if I had to settle with just a handful of 10 rd factory.  I figure 10 rds that feed reliably beat 30 rds that jam/misfeed every few shots.  You can get the aftermarket 30 rd mags from Cheaperthandirt.com, Natchezss.com, and similar dot-places.

Very nice.  Like you, I've owned a couple of Mini-14's in the past and I always feel like looking for another when I see one like your Mini-30.

gives me a nicer cheekweld than the bare steel.  Looks kinda snazzy too (IMHO).  Took me 10 minutes and a few feet of cord....added bonus is that I have a few feet of rope if I ever need it.

ETA: Doesn't effect function in the least, folds up and locks into place.

Nice work!  I have a good friend here who hunted whitetail with a Mini-30 for years & still plinks with that rifle often.

That's the first time I've seen a folder wrapped in paracord... I kinda like it.  Does it affect function at all?

First I've seen that too, and I have BC folders on several different weapons - might have to give that a try...

Two weekends ago my wife was sanding tongue-and-groove pine boards for our cabin with an electric sander--while I watched (more like "sneaked a peek" while I worked).  YUM!

It's amazing to me how a woman can be such a beautiful lady and then do the work of a man when that is called for.  A good woman is a wonderful thing.

Truer words have never been spoken.

Looks very cool. When I saw the BEFORE pic, I thought, "Here's the perfect person to send that extra Mini-30 mag I've got sitting around to." Then the second pic scrolled up, and I figure you don't really need it...

But if  you still want it, or know of someone that can give it a good home let me know. I got rid of my Mini-30 10 years ago.

[edited cause I can't spell]

There is a technique for producing simulated full auto fire using a shoelace in a manner similar to bump firing.  I believe BATFE ruled the exact arrangement to BE an illegal MG.

Meaning you will IM me the info on "the exact arrangement" instead of posting it here, right??
Joking.
