My grandmother passed away yesterday at the age of 95. She left behind a house in a rural area without internet access. However, her house does have a land line.

The house doesn't contain anything of extreme value but does have a few things thieves might take like silverware and a TV. We'll remove most valuables this week but thieves will steal anything.

My brother lives about five minutes from her house but isn't always available. My parents live about ten minutes away. They will be checking on things every other day.

Is anyone aware of a cheap system that would dial out using an analog phone line? Something like an IR sensor tied to some type of dialer.

Yes, the Mace wireless home security system will do exactly that. I just installed one and it does work. There are a couple drawbacks with configuration options but I think this one is just what you need. Get it on Amazon.

One of the greatest threats is COPPER THEFT. Thieves break in and totally strip houses of copper wire and pipe.
