Doing a little work on the backyard. Except for the concrete work when I had a friend that does concrete show up and help out, everything else has been done by my best friend and myself. Neither of us have ever done anything like this so we're kind of winging it.

It's only partially completed and there's still a lot more stuff that needs to be done before next summer but I thought I'd share what we've got accomplished so far.

If anybody has any questions feel free to ask and sorry for some of the crappy looking pics, I took them all with my phone.

Worst part so far....wheelbarrowing 10 yards (read whole truck) of concrete 100 feet and up a hill.

Wait until we're done. It would have cost significantly more than $15,000 to have someone else do it. I've spent right at $10,000 on materials alone at this point including the 46,000lbs of rock that was delivered last week that I got at a fraction of retail.

Yeah, you should have seen me bust my ass when the ladder tipped over yesterday and I was on the next to the top rung. I'm sore as hell, thought I broke my finger, and glad it rained today so I could have a day off.

It was my parents house and they both passed away recently so I'm getting to stuff while I can. Everything will be looking a lot better by next summer.

Oh and if you think that's bad, look at all of the shit in the pool.

If someone here is a pool guy and you recognize that pool get ready cause I'm about to fire your ass.

I love pergolas... I'm trying to figure out a way to get one on my new stamped concrete patio next year. Might have to wait a year tho.

Whatever you do, don't pay somebody to do it. The one we built is 16'x40' with 8x8" posts and the little 8x8' area on the corner to cover the grill. If I had paid somebody to come build it it would have cost around $10k. Me and David built it ourselves in two days including staining it for less than $3k and it was super easy, dare I say even fun.

You should have seen me at the cedar place when I got there and forgot my list of wood. I had to borrow a pen and paper so I could draw out the design I had in my head to make a list of the wood I needed to buy for it.
