So is it even worth waiting around for an AR I ordered about a month and a half ago? I saw Jesse's post saying they are still working on November orders... or should I  just dump it and grab one a fun show EE or GB?  The prices seem to be getting a little more reasonable. I was kinda hoping to get something before the end of summer but looking like I'm SOL for that one

IMHO ... The wait times for "factory" ordered stuff is not going to improve much anytime soon due to the political situation ...

But you can find stuff now if you get creative - just like the ways you mentioned in your post. Make Google your best friend. There are a number of TX based Gun owner forums/boards - I know I've been looking at them. Look on them for a local TX private sale ...

Good Luck ...

Get this, then get a lower just about anywhere and you are set to go!

Its a 20 inch DPMS, A3 with rails, and from rguns (yes i NOW know this is not the best of places to order but amazing price and exactly what I wanted) and having waited this long, I figured I might as well leave my order with them as opposed to putting in a new order somewhere else.

I think if a guy wants a "spec-built" gun, ordering it and waiting is fine. But you could get a factory gun anywhere in the meantime and be having fun with it. The tables at gun shows are now stacked with them, and many brick-and-mortar stores have them in stock now, too.

I see posts from guys from time to time who have ordered pretty much standard guns (RRA LAR's, S&W M&P's, DPMS Panthers, etc.) and have been waiting for months to get them. And I wonder why. Okay, maybe they saved a hundred bucks or something, and that's fine if it's a second or third AR, but I'd personally rather pony up the bucks and get on with life.

Not necessarily directed at the OP, but I think some people still believe AR's are hard as hell to find, and they're not!

I think the DPMS wait is even longer than others.  If its a great price I would just keep the order, worst case just resale it later.  There is probably a 30% chance or so Rguns will screw up the order and you will never get it anyways.  I put in a order for a DPMS with them in Dec, I was expecting 12-24 months for a 308.  Find a gun local to hold you over.

Bwhahahah

I ordered two rifles from them a long while back that were out of stock.

Once they came back in stock, they cancelled my order and said it would be an extra $300.

Told them to go fuck themselves.
