I have been backing up my files now for over 24 overs and at this rate it may still be backing up tomorrow.
To those who have done this with a MacBook is this normal for around 4MB of data?
If this is normal I can see why someone would despise taking the time to do this.

4 megabytes?  If so, something is wrong...

Using time machine?  It always seems reasonable on my system.

Yes, Time Machine is turned on. At the rate this is going it may be noon tomorrow before the download is complete. This is the first time I have ever backed up a computer so I was not sure what to expect.

Being the first time might be why.

IIRC, the first time it backs up EVERYTHING.
After that, it scans for changes and backs up only what has changed since last backup (or something).

I back my macbook up via Time Machine to an external SSD. Takes about 10-20 minutes tops.

Is it set to encrypt it? if not, you might want to cancel and redo it with encryption.....
