OK, my question is if I buy several receivers from a guy, I only have to pay for one NCIS check, correct? Or do I have to pay for each one?

Never had this issue come up before because I didn't have enough money to buy more than one at a time, but I'm planning on getting a few for my Christmas preasent to myself

Thanks to those who reply

Not every shop around here charges for them at all.

Background check charges dissapeared when the FBI took over NICS instead of state.  At least thats what happened in GA.  Not sure elsewhere.  Are you talking about transfer fee?

I was under the impression that everyone charged for the background checks.

Let me explain.

I got out of the shooting sports back in 1998, and all the guns I had up to that point were before the NCIS check came into play. Well now I'm getting back into it and so far all my purchases have been from private parties, but I'm planing on getting these receivers for Christmas and a 10/22 for my son at next show in Milwaukee. If there's no charge for them then I guess it's a non-issue.

Thanks

No charge for background checks, but most dealers charge a transfer fee.  It use to be $5 background check fee for 1 or however many guns you were purchasing.  You need to see what your dealer charges to transfer a receiver or multiple receivers.

Thanks for the info.

I'll be getting three AR receivers, I can't decide what setup to go with so I said to hell with I'll just build all three----might take some time because of money but atleast I'll have the receivers out of the way.

Typical carges around here is $35 a transfer.  Bit most FFL's are good to only charge you for one if you are doing a few stripped lowers at a time.
