Lol! I wonder what the back story is? He must have a prior trespass, the cop tried to arrest and he walked away. Good takedown. If it was a legal detention/arrest, the officer will be fine. I didn't see any strikes or follow up force once he is on the ground. Not sure GD understands the difference between force and excessive force...???

I can't stand when people post the likes of "cop slams 61 year old man for singing", or "cop shoots man for walking his dog", etc. They don't do that in response to the initial action, but in response to what the idiots do when confronted.
The guy singing in this video seemed like a nut, and shouldn't have started flinging his hands and trying to walk away when the cop was talking to him. Then he wants to cry like a pussy after acting like a hard ass; I can't stand those types either. |
|
I love the misleading title. "Body slammed for singing Beach Boys."
Not for criminal trespass, oh no. Looks like a halfwit mental defective. My guess: 1 - The guy is a constant problem. A persistent schizophrenic halfwit who has a compulsion to present himself as a reoccurring public spectacle. 2 - The suits with name tags are hotel security who called to have him removed for the umpteenth time. 3 - He refused to leave. I do agree that he should have been tased if asked to put his hands behind his back and he refused. But they may have dealt with him other times when he was much more combative. |

Who are the Men in Black?
edit: I see, hotel security. Bye Bye , Beach Boy Quoted:
Cop is a fucking pussy if he couldn't handle that old man without that So last night we had a thread where the LEO was criticized for not immediately restraining a guy Today we have a LEO being criticized for immediately restraining a guy |

Quoted: We don't have the full story. What was he saying to the Cop? He reached into his pants, he could have had a weapon. Lulz. We're so used to "justifying" police action we are just making shit up now? You could use that excuse for tackling every old lady on the street. I fall back on the usual question. "Was this the best way to handle this situation? What could the officer have done that was different?" I know it sounds like a Middle School teacher trying to work out a schoolyard problem, but that pretty much sums up police interactions. |

From the looks of it, he doesn't have all of his marbles. Maybe I'm jaded because I worked in an industry where you risked your job if you put your hands on someone else, instead of having a pack of cheerleaders for a body slam. |

Well, he was pulling away from the cop from what I can see. So, it's considered resisting or disobeying the cop isn't it? Peoples recollections may differ That's why "eyewitnesses" are notoriously unreliable. The camera may capture one angle of an event and miss other important ones. |

Quoted: WTF? At the academy we were told to use only that force which is reasonably necessary to effect the arrest. The Fed. judge's decision in the King Trial was very well written and clear on this matter. Well, we don't know anything about the subject. For all we know, he is known to the officers and has resisted or fought with them in the past. I don't know, but I didn't see anything "excessive". Again, if it was a lawful arrest or detention, I don't have a problem with a takedown to the ground from an uncooperative subject who's pulling away. |

love the title... he was body slammed for doing nothing but singing
how about "mentally unstable man taken into custody" have to remember dude was acting crazy enough they decided to get it on video for a reason and it wasn't because he likes singing beach boys songs poorly |

WTF? At the academy we were told to use only that force which is reasonably necessary to effect the arrest. The Fed. judge's decision in the King Trial was very well written and clear on this matter. This has since changed, as the supreme court has realized that determining the least amount of force necessary would require super human ability while actively in combat. It is now only required that you use REASONABLE force, because it's easy to second guess from the safety of a judges chambers. |

I love the misleading title. "Body slammed for singing Beach Boys." "Boby slams" is pretty misleading. I did a booby slam once (actual technical name is "inside nipple takedown", involves 2 purple nurples while lowering body weight to bring person to the ground), the girlfriend was not impressed

Quoted:
Outstanding police work. Expect more of these as the weather gets hotter and cops are asked to leave their A/Cs On a serious note, what did the man do to cause joinder? Edit right. He was singing. Good slam
The suits with name tags are most likely hotel staff/security. It makes sense that they called to have the man removed from the premises after he refused to leave. Yup - and here's the thing about the use of force: It's still justified even if it really hurts, results in injury, and/or the person on the receiving end of it doesn't like it very much. |
