Old Dell 2350. I had a lightning strike quite a while back and replaced the PC since the intergrated sound quite working along with the dishwasher and other appliances. Reloading drivers doesn't work and I cannot even listen to a CD by plugging directly into the CD drive (front panel). I want the PC for my kid. What's the chances of a sound card fixing the problem. This is the only problem with the box. Thanks. |

You said you replaced the PC. Did you buy a new computer or just rebuild the old one. I need more info before I can go on. What OS are you running? One thing you can check is your Device Manager to see if there is an issue with your hardware, It will show up as either a red X or a yellow triangle with an explanation point. |
Check the device manager for audio drivers. If you have on board audio, you "should" be able to go to the manufacturer's website and reload the drivers. Dell has a pretty good website. The drivers should be there somewhere. Dell 2350 Driver Page I have an old Dell too |

If you are saying this Dell 2350 was the computer hit by lightning and the on board sound card got fried, then as long as everything else works on the computer then putting a new sound card in and disabling the on board sound either by jumpers or through the bios should get your sound back up. I had 3 computers on board lan cards get fried from a lightning strike. I put in pci lan cards and all work fine. |
