I agree, it does look pretty entertaining.
But like with all movies anymore, I personally will wait for Redbox |

Wasn't there a British movie just like this 10 or 15 years ago? I remember tall alien rock ships floating in the middle of nowhere and scientists trying to communicate with them.

Sicario and Prisoners were both great films, and this looks neat. I am looking forward to this one.

another strong women leading the way movie.
Antwain Merryweather.. will hate it. |

That looks interesting. We haven't had many movies where aliens just show up and try to communicate with us like Close Encounters.
Typically, they just arrive and start trying to wipe us out because scary aliens are more entertaining than curious ones. |

I am very excited for this...has the potential to be excellent. Certainly a rarity these days.

I hope it isn't a "alien need to save the human race from ourselves" movie.

View Quote That will probably be the biggest challenge if they ever show up. Having a conversation with aliens could very well be like talking to ants. Most movies come up with a cop-out device so they don't have to explain it. "Oh, you have a device that translates every language in the universe so we can understand each other, groovy." Or my personal favorite "we Aliens learned English (some fucking how) and we'll just use that so it's convenient for you." |
|
I highly recommend reading "Story of Your Life" by Ted Chiang. It's the short story that is the basis of this movie. I don't usually see movies in theaters but for this I will make an exception.
ETA: If the movie is faithful to the source material it will be about linguistic relativity, not Independence Day style violence. |

Female language-oligist and a similarly trained male are brought in to learn how to communicate with the aliens. I just remember it being a good read but that was probably 25 years ago. |

another strong women leading the way movie. View Quote All part of the plan. The entire media and Hollywood are the propaganda machine of the Masters. Women think with the feelz, the oligarchs can minipulate the feelz. Most men these days are controlled by their ladies and it's getting worse every day. If you want to get married and have children it's on her terms, she's running the show now and the system is geared to back her up 100%. Don't give me this fucking bullshit "choose wisely". They are controlling you mister through your lady. |
