SHe believes that none of you can offer up a recipie for carmel icing. ("The real kind, that needs to be cooked and beat") Please prove her wrong here. Recipies?? |

2 cups of white sugar 1 1/2 cups of evaporated milk 1 tablespoon of butter 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring Take 1 tablespoon of the sugar and brown it in a heavy small sauce pan; one that does not burn easily. The sugar will brown and melt. The heat under your pan should be on medium high heat. Stir as it brown. When it browns add the remainding sugar and immediately add the milk. Continue to stir ingredients form the beginning of this process. In approximately 7 or 8 minutes the mixture will begin to thicken. Take it off the heat and stir in butter and vanilla. Immediately frost cooled cake. If you wait too long the icing will beging to get too thick. When this happens put it on low heat again and stir until it get a little thinner If you are going to use icing for a three layer cake you need to double recipe |
