I'm using an old version of Visual Analysis and I'm gonna drive to the programmer's house, kneecap him and take a shit in the CD tray of his computer. Drawing in it is needlessly difficult, especially for a 3D model, you've got to switch back and forth to a rendering to select the items you want output for, or fight the interface for multiple members. Error messages are unhelpful, and usually misleading, and stable structures often are classified as mechanisms. It's old, 5.5 from 2005, but it's garbage. I've used STAAD in the past, and while it was more powerful and less likely to claim instability, it was WORSE for input.

What do you use? RISA, newer version of STAAD or VA, StruCad, RAM, what? I've gotta do steel, aluminum, concrete and timber. I don't much care about design and code checks, just analysis.

In return, here's a picture of the structure supporting some in-situ art at the Guggenheim that I designed with VA. It sucked.
