I was sitting at my computer desk and suddenly felt a sharp pain in my back below my right shoulder blade. Thought I had somehow pulled a muscle.

Took a hot shower to relax the muscles, but it got worse. It really hurt when I tried to wash my right leg.
Now it's radiating to my right chest. Hurts when I move and loading the laundry was not fun.
Sneezed and experienced a new dimension in pain.

I will be heading out to the doctor's in a couple of hours.
The neighbor say it sounds like pleursy.
What say you?

unlikely to be pleurisy unless breathing hurts alot, particularly breathing in.

almost all superficial sharp shooting pains are musculoskeletal, and while a hot shower can help, bending over to get to a foot or whatever can restretch the muscles, and cause pain, which will get worse, and you start a vicious cycle.

the doc will prob put you on a muscle relaxer and nsaids, moist heat therapy, and limited activity, and in a few days it will improve.

if you have any other symptoms maybe I can be more specificfish

NO guns for Bubba!!!

Just opened my blinds and it hurt really bad to stretch out my arm and do it.
Does hurt to breath a little, especially when I breath in deep.
It feels like there's some pressure right below my right breast.

Spelled incorrectly, but phonetically correct.  Myocardial infarction.

Thought an MI has left side pain, radiating down the left arm etc.

Anyway, I'm heading in to the urgent care right now.

I sort of enjoy the 'what's my ailment?' threads.

ARDOC - You about gave me a Heart Attack when you said it was an MI!!!

Turns out is was a muscle spasm in my middle back radiating out to my chest.
I'll be taking an anti[inflammatory and a muscle relaxer.

AROptics, Thank you for your kind thoughts.

Thanks be to God. Have a great weekend Migradog.

No more clicking on those threads for me. The potential real time heart attack of someone I respect was very disturbing and sad.

I will have Nacho Cheese Doritos and a couple Buds in celebration. TGIF and TGINAMI (thank God it is not an MI).

One word. Electo muscle stim. Toss the damn Soma or Parafon Forte or what ever relaxer they gave you. Get to a physical therapist or a chiropractor and get some muscle stim. You'll recover far faster than from drugs.

How do I know? I suffered from chronic muscle spasms for years, still do but regular exercise helps along with  reducing my sugar intake. Literally had bottles of Soma and Soma with Codine everywhere. Only marginal relief and couldn't work doped up on the stuff.

Went to a PT after years of suffering, got some muscle stim after a severe episode and left the office upright. After that, got a scrip for my own muscle stim machine, cost me $400 out of pocket. Haven't taken pills since. I just slap the pads on the affected area, dial up the juice, alternate some heat and cold packs and I'm good to go.
