Me thinks that the server is getting overwhelmed by all of the goodnes that is in the air tonight. I just hope the cabinet it is in is well cooled and the SCSI gods smile on its drives.

I'm fine. Have been all last night, all day from work, and now this evening from home. Have been noticing I see an advertising banner 'network error' every once in a while, but that is probably an image file that got moved or something and not an ARFcom problem per se.

The Ad Server can't keep up and I'm updating the software now. (I rewrote it this weekend because it needed it!!!!) SHould be fixed soon... We're getting POUNDED with new users, which is a good thing since they can learn the truth about the AWB and how useless it actually was! Now everyone go back to ordering bayonets!!!

I don't know if the Unique IP hits are effected by a DOS attack, but the last 24 hour period of time registered 20,000 hits. Almost twice that of seven days ago. |

Ok new advertising server is done and running... cut the CPU load by 75%.
Biz errors should be gone now and you guys can complain about the load for a bit. I will look at utilizing one of the servers on the network as a DB server and dropping it into production. (We have one on standby we setup as part of the network move, thank god! (only a single proc SQL License though! )More info on this as I work it, but for now it looks like search, my active, and so forth are the only issues with 5000 people on the site. That's actually NOT BAD!

Unless this place has keep-alive enabled, it should not really matter THAT much, other than the overhead of the session data, correct? HTTP does not normally maintain an active TCP/IP connection. |
