video and audio phile here.  I love my home theater, nothing better than reference level Black Hawk Down, Band of Brothers, Lord of the Rings and Joe Satriani, Live in San Francisco.  Ahh, good stuff.

I love movies too! I only have about 75 DVDs and VHS tapes, but I have watched them all at least a dozen times each.

I like the classic horror films, but my favorite is Sci Fi from any era.

Couple of years ago I was told by one of my coworker that the company VP has collection of over 2,000 movies.  Last year I was over at the VP's house for a party and learned that he has over 3,000 movies on DVD and another 2,000 on VHS/Beta.  Oh, he also had a bunch (over 100) laser disc and few on CD.  He had a large den converted to a tv room and 2 and 1/2 walls were completely covered with movies.

Yeah, I'm waiting till the price of Hi Def drops before going apeshit.

Word.. my wife wants one of the new DLP HD sets, but they all seem to have a really funky "rainbow" effect to me. We may end up going with a projector setup in the media room.

Dedicated theater is what I'll be doing in the coming years.  First I should probably buy a house.    It's kind of hard to compromise when it comes to home theater.  Either have a "family room" or a "home theater" room, it's hard to have the best of both worlds.

Pretty selective on films.  Like to understand the language of film.  Don't have that many DVDs yet but the wife has nearly every Disney item, some DVD and most VHS.  Rear projection Sony LCD, High Definition service from Time Warner (incl. INHD1 and INHD2 and HDNET and HDMovie, decent Panasonic DVD Player and Rotel 5.1 AV unit @90 real watts plus a 250 watt Hsu sub-woofer.  Axiom speakers from Canada.

Glad to see old B&W movies coming out in high quality format and older movies re-done for good sound and PQ.

We went 2 or 3 weeks before someone noticed that the cat had turned off the power strip for the TV.    And if it doesn't come in on the rabbit ears, we don't watch it.  Do I qualify?

Is there anything you don't hate?

I have around 200 movies or so.  34" direct view HDTV and a decent surround setup.  I love watching good (OK some not so good) movies.  Hell, I can watch LOTR over and over just cause it looks and sounds so good.

I've got about 120 DVDs.  My room mate's buddy has about 1500, so we get a steady supply of stuff to watch.

I bought a 55" Mitsubishi Hi def tv about 4 years ago...that same TV today is about 1/3 the price of what I paid, but between the DVDs and the Xbox, I've enjoyed every second of that damn thing.  Been kicking myself for not buying the 65" lol.

Only real weak link in my setup is my sub...it's a cheesy Radio Shack (gasp).  I have been meaning to upgrade the damn thing, but I always seem to spend the $$ on other stuff.  One of these days...

McCall, that funky rainbow effect is caused by the color wheel that is used to enhance DLP projectors,( front and rear)  .  The rainbow effect only bothers a small percentage of viewers- sorry. I love movies also and just set up a BENQ front projector with a 84" screen.  The movies never looked better and the cable HI DEF is great!  The screen is 4x3, when widescreen shows are displayed the screen shrinks to 74"hooked!

I can answer the question "Do I love movies?" a resounding yes!

However, I don't collect them as I have 7 HBO channels, 5 or 6 showtime channels, 5 or 6 Cinemax channels.....well, basically about every movie channel offered by Dish Network, and we rent videos pretty often.

I recognize the shot on your screen from the original "Mummy"  also.

So, yeah, I like em. I rarely go out to the movies though as I have a 21 foot dark stained wood den with a 60 inch big screen, surroundsound etc...  Free food, free booze, pause when I want....  what's not to like?

Besides movies, the other thing I've been getting into are TV series on DVD: Sopranos, Band of Brothers, Siz Feet Under, etc.
