1:16 Used only in dedicated 22LR uppers.

1:14 May have been used in very early M16's. It's too slow a rate of twist to even stabilize M193 ball. Was also used in some early Mini 14's and some bolt action .223rem varmit rifles.

1:12 Used in the M16A1 & Colt SP1. Best twist rate for M193. Will not stabilize M855.

1:10 Used in the Oly Stainles Ultra Match Brls. Excellent for 68 & 69Gn BTHP's. Might not fully stabilize M855.

1:9 Used in most current commercial production rifles. Suposedly offers longer Brl life than 1:7 and will stabilize MOST ammo. To slow a rate of twist for M856A1 tracer.

1:8 Used in DPMS Match Brls. Fast enought for even the heaviest match ammo.

1:7 Used in all current military rifles. Necessary to stabilize M856A1 tracer.
