I have always been interested in ancient meso-america. I have read a few books on their history, religion and culture. I find it fascinating. I thought Apocalypto was an awesome movie. I know there were a few historical innacuracies bit loved it anyway. Mel Gibson may be an alchoholic,uber-catholic jew hater but he makes an awesome flick.

Pretty bloody wasnt it? I took my wife to see it, and quite a few people left the theater when the heart was cut from the guys chest

I thought it was one of the best films I've seen in years.  Jaguar Paw and the rest of his tribe had incredible courage and mindset to face the adversity that they did throughout the film.  Great stuff.

Awesome movie.

No matter what culture, and what point in history, it seems guys were always "hanging around the campfire" bustin each others ball about sex and women.  That was a nice touch.

Awesome movie.
The plot was kind of lame, though, guy gets kidnapped by big bad enemies next door, wife is in danger-needs husband, husband escapes, saves wife, they escape and live happily ever after.  While its a classic plot, it's been used too many times.

Having said that, everything else about the movie rocked!

Lots of creative license taken in that movie but I thought the imagery was incredible. It was a very beautiful movie cinematography-wise & Mel did a great job of creating tension and characters that you could take to.
