i just got it and it kicks ASS! very advanced and fast. text editor and atteditor are a single command you edit text on the drawing not on a silly window. atttext is still in a window but it's easy. trim is now multi line (using window or crossing) windows and crossing boxes are shaded. when you pick a line or text it bolds. so far it's a big step up. |

Sounds nice. We've got LT2005 (floating licenced), and I can never get it to completely open. Had to revert to an old version of R14. Taking steps backward from being used to driving with a mouse sucks. I have LT2002 on a machine at home, love it. When LT97 came out, I thought the world of it, as, R14 too was cumbersome. Maybe I need to ask our IT guy to fix our server-side problems. |
SolidWorks is a decent 3-d solids modeling package. Solidworks is a sucky drafting package. I've been using 2000-2006. AutoCad is good for certian applications. |

I'm using AutoCRASH 2006 as we speak... The Microsoft .NET thing causes seemingly random crashes on some older Operating systems... (so set autosave for 5 minutes or something; but that's just a smart thing anyway) Ever try customizing your EXPRESS TOOLS toolbar!? YOU CAN'T DO IT! There are several express tools that are missing, too! I've been using 2002 just to keep up with my work load on more intense projects... It's just incredibly buggy if you use it 24/7 you'll eventually find some things you hate about it. For the most part, it's a HUGE jump from some of the past versions though... |
My current machine here is licensed for R-14 (needed to use ESRI GIS ArcCAD), 2002 (The BEST AUTOCAD EVER, IMHO!), and 2006... I've been using AutoCAD since I was 9 years old drawing with R-11 (and a "Digitizer") back on our old 386 in 1989! If you think REGULAR 2006 has bugs, try '06 LT!!! What a P.O.S.!!! |

DAMN, sorry you guys are having problems. i think it's kick ass. now rev 9 was buggy. every time you regen or save it had a 20% chance of locking up. i have been running 2006 for about a week and ZERO problems. the icon editor takes a bit of gettign use to but even it's 100% once you learn to use it. |

Just don't use the Gradient Hatch feature as most plotters cannot do a good job of plotting them, and if you don't have a top-of-the-line (and I mean that literally) PC, Network, and Plotter, you risk crashing not only your PC, but also the printing network... It's almost too much overload for most print & network drive servers (even our new one); Our server can (barely) handle it, but our individual PCs always crash when trying to print Gradient Hatches... They may LOOK pretty, but don't use them. Take my advice FWIW. |
