They are all sold out here
Here too.
I am going to watch video feed while sitting outside turned away from the Sun. |
use the pinhole box method and look at the image projected by the pinhole. you won't be seeing the corona very well, but you won't burn your retina, either

I checked at a Lowe's the other day and they were all sold out.
I got 4 pair months ago for my wife, son, daughter-in-law, and me but my son, and his wife got their own so I have two extra pair.
I could sell them for $5-$10 each but I don't feel like being "that guy". |
I've got 4 #14 welding helmets we're going to be using. That's if the clouds hold off.
I don't and I don't want any. I've never thought it was a good idea to look or stare at the sun, and I'm not trusting a 10 cent pair of glasses to protect my vision even if I wanted to.
I'm sitting out in front of the hospital I work in, waiting on a nurse to show up so I can give her mine. She REALLY wants to watch it, and couldn't find any, so wtf...
Got a professionally-made solar shade for one of my camera lenses. Still not gonna stand there staring for an hour.
Nope and I didn't even try to find any. I made a projector instead.
I'm going to walk out and check out the darkness, I'll save looking at the sun for the millions of pictures and videos that will be online.

I'm just going to try to catch it with my cell phone in a panoramic shot and enjoy the shadow.

If you hold out until its about to start, I bet she would give you a rimjob for them. People are insane about the eclipse. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

#14 shade welding glass will work. Any welding supply house and lots of hardware stores including tractor supply. Assuming they aren't all sold out, kind of late. Run around $8. If you know anyone who TIG welds they should have some.
Gonna sit outside with my Oberon and see everyone else's videos and pictures.
I made a pinhole camera with some foil and a bit of cardboard.
We're going to use a couple of paper plates to make a quick-and-easy shadow box.
It's overcast now, so I'm not sure if the weather is going to cooperate today. |
I ordered a 10-pack of solar glasses for $9.95 back in February.

I had 8 spares (bought two packs of 5), posted them on a local facebook group at 6am and had 6 replies with a minute with people wanting them.

I had a chance to buy them a couple of weeks ago at 7-11. full box right in front of me, 2 pairs for $1.99. Of course everyplace is sold out now. I have no idea how safe those glasses are anyway.
Plus I'm still a little shell shocked from the 70's when my mother was screaming I was going to go blind during a solar eclipse. I may just take my kids and hide in the basement. |

I hear you can stare at it for 30 seconds or so before retina burns. So you got a good 20 seconds you can look at it. Im thinking 20 second stare, 10 second break and repeat.

We don't have any and are driving South in a few hours.
Don't care. |
I don't.
Call me overcautious or whatever, but I'm not looking at the sun through anything. |
Since I work in a windowless secure facility and have to be at work I don't think I will need them.
I recommend looking at the eclipse through the tint in your car windows if you dont have glasses.

Who would trust some mass produced chinese made crap to look at the sun?

I heard that amazon refunded everyone who bought them, because of the liability of using fakes
