Mine is giving 6-8" groups. I can do 2-3" with my heavy barrel (not bull barrel) 16".

I can touch bullet holes at 100 m. with no wind, iron sights.  I have the lightweight profile 16" barrel (pencil bbl) on my colt.

I would have a 'smith look at it.  It might need to be re-tourqued or something simple.  6-8" is unacceptable to me.

Definitly unacceptable, 6-8" is a hip shot on a reactive target at 100yd for me.

How long have you had the barrel?  Did you get it used?  If under warranty, don't even mess with it, just get it swapped out.

Nope not old. Just got it. It is a very light profile. With a A1 stock it makes for a very light and handy rifle. But I want at least 2 MOA on any rifle I own. Good to know light barrels can shoot. I'll get it handled. Thanks

could you describe the barrel's pedigree?  who made it, twist, ...

can you describe the ammo used to test it?

can you describe the conditions?  benched, sandbagged, front rested, offhand, . . .

barrel may have been badly made.  need more info about it though.

scott out

It is a Wilson 1/9 from JT Surplus. I have had the barrel a while but just built the gun. TF with South African 55gr out of battle packs and SS109.This ammo is very accurate out of 4 other AR's I have built with Wilson 20 and 16" heavy barrels.

I fired it off the bench over sandbags w/iron sights. I can't do much better than 1.5 to 2 MOA under the best conditions with that setup. The eyes are going after 40.

I was playing with it last night and found the rear sight(A-2) was moving more than normal. I replaced it and will shoot this weekend.

Looks like it was the rear sight. Replaced it and groups shrunk. Thanks all.
