So they wait until the coldest month of the year to have a snake hunt?

Brilliant!

Well, they should be moving slowly then, and out basking in the sunlight trying to warm up, so they'll be easier to find.

Oh my hell no.

Well, I wouldn't call it hunting, but I let one loose every morning.

Amazing how they paint it as a civil duty, but then they charge $25 entry fee.

I probably wouldn't harm a giant snake, but I'm looking for reasons to wander the Everglades armed, so maybe I'll get certified.

Hunting creatures that have antigravity sounds a bit too risky for me, I'm out.

Not sure walking tru thick swamp hunting 20' snakes that eat crocodiles is a good idea.  I have seen the videos of how long it takes one of those monsters to wrap up a helpless gator.  Not long.

Antigravity muscle.

muscle that acts, often through the stretch reflex, to counterbalance the pull
of gravity and to maintain an upright posture. Many antigravity muscles have
a high proportion of slow-twitch muscle fibres and are often called tonic muscles.

Everyone relax.

I took the online training module and easily passed the test.

I am certified, but I am not certifiable enough to wade into the Everglades just to live handle and double bag a goddamn Burmese Python, or a Northern African Python, or a Boa Constrictor or a Ball Python.

Good luck, snake hunters.

I will be up here in New Hampshire standing on a stool screaming like a girl thinkin' of ya.

The way I read this is that these are not killed, but captured live?

The contest is for dead or alive.

The snakes are euthanized anyway.

You do realize that ball pythons top out at 5' and they are one of the most commonly-sold snakes in pet stores, right?

I would go, but only if I could take them alive and then take them home.  I have a few reticulated pythons but no burmese pythons.

They could be 5" long and I would still stay home.

Let's see,  python skin boots, sexy holster for 1911, purse for wife. ...
I wonder how they taste?

Edit: just read the info brochure,  what stood out was the word"capture". I was thinking"shoot". When they make the appropriate changes count me in.
