I don't think there were any archive sites running back then but I may be wrong. I'd like to find an old website I used in the mid to late 1990's that was hosted by USACE ( US Army Corps of Engineers) and listed tons of detailed info about all FUDS (Formerly Used Defense Sites). It completely disappeared after 9/11.

Wife 1.0 did call here drunk about 3 years ago and wife 2.0 answered.
1.0 said she had a feeling something bad was going to happen to my Mom. Mom died in 2006. I would like to have a drink with 1.0 for old times sake, and reminisce on the kinky fun we had way back when. She actually lives now about 10 miles from my MILs house, if google search is correct, lol |

I have some tape backups of sites from the mid 90's, but no tape drive to read them. Nothing is really lost since they moved to new servers with all data. I suppose I should dispose of the old tapes one of these days. The net was a pretty cool place until y2k or so, it was mostly populated with geeks making new stuff, and by the time that new stuff was made, HTML changed and the next version of Netscape was released, so you could make more new stuff. I still remember the big kerfluffle between Barnes and Noble and Amazon going to court over their "Shopping Cart/Checkout Methods" being similar. Nobody thought about "archiving" all of that content until later on, when everybody got on the net, save for a distributed spank bank system of low res .GIF files on random 400MB Hard drives that are gone now. The "next generation" made embedding videos and YouTube type sites possible. Seems like forever ago, but today, if you remember when YouTube came online, you are an "old fart".
