This past weekend I went to the range and saw another shooter with an AR with the following:
>16" Dissipator-like barrel, yet it was the thin kind, not heavy like the Bushies.
>A1 type cary handle with proper A1 sights
>A1 heat shield
>Old aluminium collapsible stock with green para-cord on cheek weld.

I handled it and it was super-light; pointed very fast and looked mean as hell. I really want to build one out of my AR's....

Just wondering is anyone out there also like the retro-AR's ?

I built a circa 1969 M16 A1E1 replica. I used a Colt lower (not M16) with a correct upper receiver, teardrop forward assist, 20" pencil barrel, triangular handguards, flash supressor, and non trapdoor butt stock.

It looks good in a different way than current designs with carbine barrels, flattops and collapsible stocks.
