With the growing threat to America from other countries and with alot of our fine young troops deployed, I was wondering how may if any are active militia-men or women?

By militia I don't mean extemist, I mean law-abiding, constitution-style militia.

I have been wanting to get one started in my great state of TN. Unfortunatly I have no military backround, and there are to many extermist that have ruined the good name of militia-men.
Any suggestions?

I love my country, state, and family and I want to make sure that all three remain free and unterrorized.

As far as the milita part goes.  I'd bet a good part of the members here are.  But due to Bat F(uckers) lurking they won't admit to it or talk about it.  shhhhhhhhh

Fineswine said the NG is the State militias. Then why are States fighting the Feds to keep the NG in their States? Thus, debunking fineswines theory of the NG being a State militia. A militia is any able bodied man of the State in which they live, meaning we are all Militia.

True we are all militia however not all of us are trained as so.
True the NG was supposed to be the states militia however in WWII (I think) they were called upon and made part of the national defense instead of state defense.

Yes, most states do not have a state controlled militia.

"The militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves, ... all men capable of bearing arms;..."
— "Letters from the Federal Farmer to the Republic", 1788 (either Richard Henry Lee or Melancton Smith).

"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom? Congress shall have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American ... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the People."
— Tench Coxe, 1788.
