If so, what are the gun laws like there? Is Class 3 available? Are 'assault weapons' allowed on public lands, etc. etc.???

I grew up in Wyoming and you can do whatever the hell you want. Nobody checks to see whatever you have in your house or car or anything. You can go whereever and do whatever. Just keep in mind you don't go on private property or poach. I have never been bothered by law enforcment. you will neither if you just use common sense. No real restrictions, just don't be stupid.
