NEWS FLASH....FANNY PACK ARREST IN MARION COUNTY
On Saturday, August 11th Vanna Haggerty of Marion County Illinois was arrested in front of her children at the Marion County fair for UUW...fanny pack carry. Our initial reporting on Mrs. Haggerty indicated the UUW had been dropped. Looks like that is NOT the case. Read on. We don't have the specific charge yet because the Marion County State's Attorney REFUSES to tell Mrs. Haggerty what she is being charged with. In fact, they told her to hire a lawyer if she wants to know the charges. The ARROGANCE is unbelievable. **************************** EMAIL FROM MS HAGGERTY: John, I took your advice and called the State's Attorneys office and was told that I have 2 counts of UUW against me (specific charges not revealed.) I mistakenly thought that they had dropped the gun charge. Now I'm really starting to worry. John, I don't want to go to jail...I have a husband and two children. Please, tell me what I can do. Scared to death, Vana M. Haggerty ***************************** Mrs. Haggerty was strip searched and spent Saturday and Sunday night in jail. Her arraignment is set for August 28th, but it looks like Aggravated UUW for the Fanny Pack carry. Concealed Carry, Inc. is deploying a lawyer tomorrow to get to the bottom of the charges. Since the State's Attorney doesn't want to cooperate, we'll make them cooperate...it's just that simple. If the charges prove to be a FELONY fanny pack carry arrest then you are again going to be called into action. There is just no other way then to fight every time one of gets arrested. We cannot sit back on the laurels of our success with Mr. John Horstman. Rather we must learn from Horstman and FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT every time one of us gets arrested! WHEN YOU ARREST ONE GUN OWNER --- YOU ARREST ALL GUN OWNERS! For now, take no action...this is just a news flash with details to follow. Anyone who lives down that way who can help fill in the blanks...contact me! Pencil in August Tuesday August 28th for possible deployment in mass to the Marion County Courthouse. ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ALERT: A high ranking member of the ISP called to inform me that anyone caught with an unloaded gun in a fanny pack on Democrat Day at the Illinois State Fair on August 16th (Thursday) would be charged with a CLASS A Misdmeanor for possession of a handgun on State Property (So no Felony UUW for fanny pack carry at the fair). Was also told that fanny packs would only be searched upon probable cause. Concealed Carry, Inc. has not and does not recommend the carrying of real guns at the State Fair. Rather carry something symbolic of your lost rights like a copy of the Second Amendment torn in half. ILLINOIS STATE FAIR DEMOCRAT SURPRISE For those going to Democrat Day at the fair, the Democrats will be getting their surprise at 1pm! Hope they enjoy it! John Birch President Concealed Carry, Inc. Yea, one LEO told me that experienced officers can spot those gun-carrying fanny packs a mile away. You might as well have a flashing neon sign above your head that says "carrying pistol". |

this kind of stuff sickens me. Lets take a law abiding mother away from her family. She wants to protect herself and her children from attack. Therefore she is a danger to society.
DAMN THIS SHIT PISSES ME OFF!! |

Well,
the game goes on, and we are going to get a case into the courts over here. Time to get some $$$ to conceal carry c-rock www.illinois-shooter.org |

You would not believe the lengths the politicians have gone to to avoid havine CCW passed in this state. Both parties get together and have it fail by ONE vote so we feel as if we almost made it--year after year. They finally screwed up with the wording of the UUW law and now they are trying to avoid allowing a loophole of their own law from prevailing. Makes us want to scream. We all wish Shit-cago would become the 51st state and leave us Americans alone--or better yet have it fall into Lake Michigan the same time Kalifornia falls into the Pacific Ocean. GRRRRR. [pissed] |

SB View Quote You are correct, and I would agree for most individuals who are as passionate about RKBA as I am, except for one thing. I have spent 23 years building my business--downstate. I have never been to Chicago. If I just had "a job" and could transfer or "get another job" in a free state I would in a heartbeat, but it is tough to leave 3000 clients (life insurance agent) and start over. I make pretty good $$ and obviously need that to support my habit--guns. Also, my wife has a good job with great benefits that could not readily be duplicated elsewhere. Thanks for the thought though. |

A number of years ago I used to work in the ER in Centerville Ill., also did some work at St. Marys in E. St. Louis , Ill........Every Nurse in those hospitals carried an unlicensed gun. Even the Mayor of E. St. Louis carried an unlicensed Browning 9mm. We used to say that Ill law stoped at the E. St. Louis city limits. I was wondering how many fanny pack arrest the state has made in E. St. Louis, Centerville, Ruff city? I bet none.

beekeeper, You know I just came back from vacation in Wyoming, and it is simply a beautiful State. Just breath-taking. Everywhere I went people were just incredibly friendly and outgoing. When people found out what my wife and I did for a living they would try to get us to move to Wyoming; stating that there were lots of jobs for people. I would bet that what you did to build your business in 23 years of working in a competitive, cut-throat (maybe) environment like Illinois you could do in 2-3 years, or less, in Wyoming. Besides for what you paid for your house in Illinois you could have 80 acres and a 3,500 square foot ranch house with barn - and still have 50 grand in cash left over (just imagine how you'd spend 50 grand for firearms). Also you have to think about the future. If Illinois is this bad NOW, think of how miserable and wretched a place it's gonna be in ten more years. Right when you're thinking of retiring the State will ban all firearm, weapons, knives, clubs, mace, forks etc... But then you'll be a senior citizen, at far greater risk of violent crime; you'll be an excellent target for crime (you'll be retired = better off financially) and you'll be more frail (you think your medical problems are bothering you right now, wait for 20 more years and see how you feel then) which will also make you a better target. I watched from my hotel window in Paris (6 stories up) while two young punks beat the living $hit out of an elderly man while robbing him - it was one of the uglies things I've ever seen in my life. YOU DO NOT EVER WANT TO BE WITHOUT ANY FORM OF PROTECTION; EVER. So, what I'm trying to say is just when you're gonna need protection the most, the State will be disarming you. Look at what is happening to the crime rate in Australia and England after the disarming. Plot a curve of restrictive firearms laws by the State of Illinois vs time. See how things are getting worse with time. Extrapolate that plot out 10 to 20 more years - things are gonna be far, far worse then. You gotta think about the future, not just now. If you're writing messages with "GRRRRR" here now, in 10 years all your messages will be is just screaming. Wyoming is a State for the future. It's undiscovered, clean, safe and beautiful; while remaining full of opportunity. Remember, it's only the rest of your life......... SB |

On Democrat Day have your group show up wearing
fanny packs with a 1lb. bag of rice stuffed in them. When you are asked to submit to a search, refuse. |

If a LEO stops and searches you, be courtious. Make sure you document the whole affair in a notebook including the probable cause reason. Then make sure that the LEO signs the document stating that what was written is what occurred. The real question is: Is being in posession of a Galco fanny pack probable cause that you are breaking the law? Cop: Why are you carrying a Galco/gun carrying fanny pack? Smart Ass Answer: So I can have quick access to my frozen candy bars. Better Answer: A gun fanny pack? No. This fanny pack is just great for carrying things in. I got it for a great price. |

Be careful what you wish for, because you may just get it.
It is all about "strict enforcement (zero tolerance) of existing gun laws", just like under Project Exile. |

Quoted: UUW? View Quote Here in the People's Utopian Republic of Illinois carrying an unloaded firearm in a case, in the hope of being able to put it into service to defend yourself/family/others is considered to be UUW--UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPON. It is a felony. If you actually use the firearm (shoot it, fire it, for those of you in free states) for some illicit purpose, that is called something else (Unlawful discharge of a firearm). And you thought Kalifornia was screwed up. I'll tell you how we got this one. The Repubs took control of the House/Senate/Governor's Office on Jan. 1, 1995. On January 3, 1995 they passed the "Safe Neighborhoods Act." Who wouldn't vote for a warm, fuzzy, innocuous piece of legislation like that? In the middle of the night before the vote, after losing in conference negotiations, the DemocRATS added a provision making it a felony (UUW) to have a firearm in any vehicle where it is "accessible" to the driver. "Accessible" was defined as able to be accessed or controlled by the driver without exiting the vehicle and accessing a locked compartment, i.e., the trunk of a car. This meant a car with a fold down rear seat did not qualify, as it could be accessed w/o exiting the vehicle. It also meant vans, SUV's, station wagons, pickups, etc. did not have any legal way to carry any firearm under any circumstances. And it was a FELONY to get caught. We hammered the Repubs to "fix" it for five years. They finally did, and actually did us a favor last year by inserting the language providing for legal carry on one's person in a fanny pack, if unloaded, and you are in possession of a valid FOID--Firearm Owner's Identification (State permission to exercise 2nd Amendment rights). This is now the law (Six Seconds to Safety, we call it), but it is beginning to be challenged in aggressively anti-gun jurisdictions by charging a UUW. It is as close as we are likely to get to legal CCW. Now you know . . . the rest of the story. Ain't Utopia great? [puke] |

MARION COUNTY STATE'S ATTORNEY SEEKS WAR WITH GUN OWNERS
By John Birch, President, Concealed Carry, Inc, PO BOX 4597, Oak Brook, IL 60523-2708, Tel: 630 986-8550 State's Attorney Creason: If it's war you want, it is war you shall get. Another hero - who did not want to be a hero - has stepped up to the plate. Mrs. Vanna Haggerty of Centralia, IL. State's Attorney Creason: The way you treated Mrs. Haggerty by holding her in your jail is an abomination of human rights. Shame on YOU! We now have the charge sheet on Vanna Haggerty (The charge sheet Mr. Creason's office REFUSED to give to Mrs. Haggerty.) You might recall Mrs. Haggerty was arrested on August 4th at the Marion County Fair at her vendor booth where she was trying to earn and honest buck by selling knives. Wow..A KNIFE LADY! Guess the cops did not like that so... Mrs. Haggerty is charged with two Class A Misdemeanors. COUNT 1 Selling a set of Brass Knucks to an undercover cop named James Burgess. This "peace officer" came up to Mrs. Haggerty and asked to "Buy a set of Brass Knucks." Mrs. Haggerty told him she only had paper weights that resembled Brass Knucks. So Officer Burgess bought one and arrested her. I guess the taxpayers down that way are very generous if they have time to pay Officer Burgess to create crime. I am certain Mrs. Haggerty will defeat this count on the facts as no one uses 8oz brass knucks. What she sold is a paper weight, albeit of very unpopular design. COUNT 1 LEGALESE: (720 ILCS 5/24-1) Sec. 24-1. Unlawful Use of Weapons. (a) A person commits the offense of unlawful use of weapons when he knowingly: (1) Sells, manufactures, purchases, possesses or carries any bludgeon, black-jack, slung-shot, sand-club, sand-bag, metal knuckles, ETC.... COUNT 2 Now it gets interesting as COUNT 1 has provoked a search. During the search Mrs. Haggerty's unloaded, encased .380 is found in her fanny pack. Mrs. Haggerty is handcuffed in front of her children, hauled to the hell hole jail, stripped naked for a search, given her prison garb and tossed into a cell with so many women they had to lay on the floor to sleep. Because she was going to be charged with a felony she is held Saturday night and Sunday night and then on Monday morning...mysteriously she is released on her original $100 bond. She could have been released right after the arrest on Saturday! Instead the Mother of two got to spend a weekend degraded in jail and of course lost the revenue from her booth at the Marion County Fair. Now you read the law is she charged with and see if you can figure what crime Mrs. Haggerty committed because my brain just can't figure it out. |
|
COUNT 2 LEGALESE:
720 ILCS 5/24-1) Sec. 24-1. Unlawful Use of Weapons. (a) A person commits the offense of unlawful use of weapons when he knowingly: 4) Carries or possesses in any vehicle or concealed on or about his person except when on his land or in his own abode or fixed place of business any pistol, revolver, stun gun or taser or other firearm, except that this subsection (a) (4) does not apply to or affect transportation of weapons that meet one of the following conditions: (i) are broken down in a non-functioning state; or (ii) are not immediately accessible; or (iii) are unloaded and enclosed in a case, firearm carrying box, shipping box, or other container by a person who has been issued a currently valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card NOTE (iii) above...Mrs. Haggerty is CLEARLY exempt...this just another "arrest a gun owner," strip them, toss them in jail and they can just go to heck. Mrs. Haggerty is a good target as she cannot afford a lawyer and it's people like her that make for good conviction stats. So what do I recommend as our course of action? The Horstman model of course! 1. We need to step in and help out with our physical presence on August 28th. It's a long way (240 miles from Chicago), but what are you going to do? Let her be convicted? Marion County State's Attorney James W. Creason does not seem to have a web site but his office phone number is: 618 548-3860 and he can be contacted at: Marion County Courthouse 101 E. Broadway P.O. Box 637 Salem, IL 62881 Here's a picture of where we are going to peacefully assemble at 9am, Tuesday, August 28th: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/irad/marion.html Remember to wear your fanny pack and have something symbolic of your lost rights in it. I think when Mr. Creason is made to read the law he is using to charge Mrs. Haggerty with that he will realize a mistake has been made. HIS! Will you be there? Email 2. Many of you have sent money for as a result of Horstman. I will be sending him a check soon as money is still coming in, but some of the money must now be diverted to Mrs. Haggerty. I hope you will trust me to use my best judgment. If you want your donation returned, just email me and I'll send your money back (probably your uncashed check in fact.) In the mean time if you have been thinking of sending some defense fund money in....feel free to do so!' Concealed Carry, Inc. Defense Fund PO BOX 4597 Oak Brook IL 60522-4597 3. I'd like to request the Champaign County Rifle Association step in and coordinate the press and the rally down there. Frankly, I can't think of a more dedicated group to step into the breach...and Paul V...could you be in touch and maybe you can give Mrs. Haggerty a call? Folks: We have to take these cases as we find them! Would be nice if the cases were all in our back yard and the court appearances scheduled at our convenience. But war is being made on us and we don't have the assets to pick the time and place for battle. Our strength is our resolve to meet them head on every time they try to pick JUST ONE OF US OFF. WHEN YOU ARREST ONE GUN OWNER - YOU ARREST ALL GUN OWNERS! Want to email Mrs. Haggerty? mailto: |

So, where is the Illinois State Rifle Ass. on all of this? [:(!]
http://www.concealcarry.org/ I think I need a new knife. |

The ISRA doesn't even agree with fanny pack carry. It seems to me that John Birch and the Champaign County Rifle Association are the only people/groups worth a damn in this state. I wouldn't waster my time joing the ISRA, I'd much rather donate to Birch. He is constantly working for the conceal carry/gun rights cause.
This sounds like a plug, because he is also my ffl, but I never hear shit from the ISRA on these bogus arrests or anything for that matter (except kicking out the more extreme groups out). |
