I have a S7 edge and I like it enough, but good god this thing has been using battery like fuckin crazy the last week. Im talking fully charged before I go to bed and I have 60% in the morning type of battery drain. The thing has been on and off a charger since noon. And that annoys me.
Figuring out how to shut down unwanted apps is near impossible since att last forced an update. My question is how do I get better battery life from this phone? |

Just got a brand new one under warranty, battery start sucking on the first one but that took 6 months. The new one? Jesus, I barely use the fucking thing, very few apps, and the battery does the same as yours. Wake up 100% by 1pm 60%. My 2 year old Note 4 will lose maybe 1-2% in the same time frame. Used to love Samsung's, but now I have major doubts. |

This is what you seek.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify&hl=en The free version works fine, I use the %1.99 one to kill system apps too. You won't belive the crap running on your phone without it. I've used it for over a year. best app ever. |

Got an S7 active.
Battery has never been an issue. Do you have a power saving setting when you swipe down on the main screen, where you do your sound, airplane mode, bluetooth, and stuff? Mine's is customizable six ways to Sunday. Worth a look. You might also see if its possible to get the store to replace your battery. (Repeat after me: "I only use the stock charging and cabling that came with the phone.") Edited to add: also make sure to shut down all recently used apps (far left bottom button) so they're not running in the background, and consider the CCleaner app. |

| Probably not helpful but my HTC One M8 used to suck the battery pretty bad. I "think" it was because some google bullshit was constantly searching for wifi. I had wifi turned off, even tried loading a couple different apps that were supposed to shut it off, but it kept turning itself back on. Went through all my apps shutting things down. Was screwing with some of the settings one day & found some google thing that had wifi activated. Disabled it and now wifi stays off. I wish I could remember exactly what it was I did. Had the damn thing for a year & a half or so & could hardly last 4-5 hours riding around in my pocket without needing charged. |
| Much like a computer, it's a good habit to fully restart every few days. Also, if you put both fingers at the top of the screen and drag down, you'll see more settings options. One of those options is "battery saver," which I highly suggest unless you are running something very processor heavy like a high def game. It's also a handy way to get the screen just a tiny bit dimmer than the dimmest setting when not on (BS on dims screen just a tiny bit more). |

Uninstall any apps you don't use or need.
Back up all of your stuff (pictures, music, etc) to get ready. Battery life shouldn't just drop off unless something changed. If battery life doesn't get better, do a full factory reset. Yeah, it sucks, you'll have to set everything back up. If battery life is shit, either the battery is shit, or something else with the hardware is seriously wrong. |
