Ok, so my Geography professor will be out of town next week. Instead of class this movie will be shown. Is there somewhere online I can watch this thing? or should I rent it. Should I refuse to watch? there will undoubtedly be test questions from the film. BTW the professor said that since this is not a political class, we shouldn't worry about a counter view point As I understand it, to get educated on an issue you look at both sides. He said we are watching it to see the science behind global warming. Me thinks he is pushing an agenda. I believe he is on some local global warming committee. So what say you.

ETA I finally joined the team

I'd tell him no.  If he's going to show a one sided biased film with little to no scientific backing he should show the other side.

Just think of the environmental impact made by producing copies of this movie !  Think of the carbon footprint !  Not to mention the resultant increase in air pollution and Co2 emissions every time Al Gore opens his mouth.

Just give this link about Al Gore's house to your professor and tell him to STFU.

I'm glad I was well out of college before this crap became commonplace.

I'd have had real issues paying good money for a class to be fed political propaganda.

I should tell him I purchased extra carbon credits I then drove my v8 truck 150 miles round trip to the desert, a/c on windows down , and shot at jackrabbits with lead bullets.

I confused, he has talked about the earths natural heat/cold cycles. He talked about earth wobble and other natural effects on earth temperature. Then bam! it's all the humans and their cars and industry.

Just a test question on it? Hell I had to write a 3 page essay on it and my thoughts on how was can prevent global warming.

My geography professor was also a big global warming person.  The year, 1989....

She was obsessed with the record hot summers we had in the '80s, and constantly used them as examples.  Global warming has been around for a while, it's only recently that politicans have picked it up as a club to bash capitalism.

Watch the fool thing and take notes. You won’t need more that one sheet of paper though because it’s full of fluff and short on information. And most of the information is actually misinformation.

I was on the debate team in high school and one thing we learned to do was to graph out an opponents arguments on what we called a “flow chart.” So it’s real easy for me to tell the difference between the emotional fluff, filler, and actual arguments. I watched most of that movie and was amazed that Gore could talk so long and say so little. What he did say was backed by very little evidence and most of it has already been shown to be either flawed or fraudulent.

One little thing to watch for. Gore talks about how CO2 levels were found to be rising back in the 50s. He actually spends some time talking about how the discovery was made so you won’t miss it. But, if CO2 levels were rising in the 1950s when Earth had far fewer people and everyone was far less industrialized then what chance do we have of ever stopping the CO2 rise?*

And pay attention to what “solutions” Gore offers. Considering the magnitude of the problem, does it seem likely that any of his half assed measures will actually fix anything?

(* This actually is somewhat scary in a way. CO2 levels aren’t a problem now and I think it’s unlikely that they will be a problem within the next 50-100 years. But we will eventually have to do something.)

Yup.  I remember reading about it in astronomy books in the 80's.  As soon as people found out how hot Venus was, the seed was planted.

Apparently convincing people that the world is ending is big business now.  It wasn't so catchy when everyone was more worried about the Soviet Union's ballistic missles.

No, it's true, my girlfriend told me all about it.  Apparently her professors said that there is no debate amongst scientists about global warming.  Anyone who believes otherwise is a complete idiot flat earther.

Ask for a % credit on your tuition for that day.

You are paying to learn Geography. Not watch Al Gore's wet dream.

For your report on how to stop Global Warming:
Ban unnecessary trips - such as Al Gore's flights around the world on private aircraft which add thousands of tons of greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere.

Ban extra large or multiple home ownership - such as the 3 homes owned by Al Gore.  The additional power generation required for these mansions adds additional thousands of tons of greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere.

Ban SUV's - such as those Al Gore rides in when traveling from the airport to a speaking location for global warming conferences.  At least hundreds of tons of greenhouse gasses would be stopped.

Ban mining that pollutes-  such as the one at Gore's estate in Carthage.  It is sitting on a zinc mine. Gore receives $20,000 a year in royalties from Pasminco Zinc, which operates a zinc concession on his property. Tennessee has cited the company for adding large quantities of barium, iron and zinc to the nearby Caney Fork River.
