I keep hearing the question, "why would anybody need a gun like this", and the answer every time is "well, people actually do hunt with these ar rifles, and people enjoy shooting them." Fuck me, it seems like gun rights activists in the media have volunfuckingtarily made the 2a about hunting and sport. In the face of tragedy, you can't justify ownership by saying some people like to hunt and plink. Now it seems we're painted into a corner, because people want to report you to the Feds if you imply that the 2a gives people a right to own 'these weapons' to protect them from their gov't.

I usually show people pictures of police responding to these incidents, and point out the types of guns they have. Then we discuss whether the police need guns that are "just designed to kill as many people as possible by spraying bullets." Then we move on to how these types of guns actually function and why they are good tools for dealing with shitbags, hence their use by police. And why the 99.99999999% of people who aren't psychotic child murderers need to be able to own and carry them.

Yes.  You understand.  That is why the tactic is used--to avoid aknowledging the true meaning of the 2nd Amendment.

Because the sheep cannot fathom that our benevolent Uncle Sham would ever become a threat to their world (comprised of Maury, football and Oxycontin/cheap vodka).  It scares the Mommies to think that things might change from their present, frenetic, pace ( which keeps them and their kids so busy that they can't think about what is right in front of their faces).

People don't want to know what happened in the past (revolutions are the norm, not the exception) and they don't want to believe that our "greatest government (formerly 'system of government') in the world" would ever bring them harm.

They'll figure it out--when it's too late.

I think Bill "BJ" Clinton started the bullshit about the second amendment being about duck hunting when he had those phony pictures of himself with a shotgun published to "prove" that he "supported" the second amendment.

Pure horseshit, that was.

I give up trying to have a logical argument with people incapable of following logic.  I have been trying to convince people on a fudd board how ignorant gun control is.  Throw fact in their face and they come back with emotion.

I will be fighting with my check book on this one...time to donate some large sums of cash to the gun lobby and NRA.

It is the best tool available to protect me and my family with.

Also this is America and I don't have to answer stupid questions.

"why would anybody need a gun like this"

Same reason I have *any* gun - because the 2A allows me to.  And because the supreme court decided I don't need to explain why I want to exercise my 2A rights.

We've allowed the antis to control the debate. That's why there's so much talk about "hunting" and "sporting purposes". The 2nd Amendment isn't about any of that shit.

This isn't a debate, it is a war for the minds and opinions of the ignorant.

In a debate you have to play by the rules and both sides are presented.

They are ahead, at least in part, because they have the media on their side with a whole panoply of folks like Bloomberg, Feinstein and so on ad nauseum, to wheel out whenever there is another tragedy.

Oh, you mean the same model of HK/Benelli that would have been illegal had it been equipped with a pistol grip?

I really don't remember what it was that he posed with, but it wouldn't surprise me. (nothing would)

"Why would anybody need a gun like this?"

Wounded Knee, Sand Creek and Blood Island to name a few.  The defenseless and trusting don't fare well against our benevolent government.

They're right...no one NEEDS a rifle like that...just like no one needs a corvette, Porsche, Lexus, gucci purses, diamond jewelry, anything in fashion beyond a standard pair of pants and shirt, lavish food, food from a restaurant, any fast food ever...

It just all depends on what you are in to.

Just look at North Korea to see how little humans "need".
