The jokes just write themselves.
During a rare all female space walk, a bag of tools slipped into orbit. The last tool bag that was lost was valued at $100,000 |

10mm, 9/16" 3'4", I probably have 17 of each, none ever on hand.
Figures. Women can't even go a week without losing their credit card for a while it seems.
Its $100k now, and later when it flies into the space station or some other space craft it'll kill someone or do millions in damages...

Although losing an expensive tool bag would be noteworthy it pales in comparison to losing the Mars Climate Orbiter. |
Surprised it doesn't happen more often. Gloves suck enough as it is. Gloves on a space suit would have to suck way more.
If NASA had Prada or Coach make the bags, I bet they would've been properly tethered to their body.
You'd think it would have a double lanyard like a safety harness so it's never not attached to something.
I'd say the person(s) responsible got lazy and skipped the pre-mission checklist, or at least the task(s) related to securing the bag.

Quoted: If this were true, that seems scary AF. Can you imagine going into space with someone who would skip a checklist? View Quote Skipping the checklist makes sense. There was more excitement about being the first all female space walk, that something important as tethering a piece of gear can get overlooked. |

This isn’t the first time either…

100k huh,so a few Snap On ratchet and socket sets are now floating aboot space?
I probably won't find that 10mm at the corner where my road meets the highway.
I've found 2 10mm sockets, a 10mm open end wrench, a 1/2" open end wrench, and a couple short extensions, on the shoulder in the 1st 100ft after I turn that corner on my bike rides. They must either fall off the bumper or roll off the frame rails when my neighbors make the turn. |

You can't just let the tools go floating around!
"Well I didn't know...." |
That does it. For now on, they only get Harbor Freight tools.

I spent 30 minutes tearing the garage apart yesterday looking for my 10mm. I ended up using a imperial socket that was close ehough LoL. I bet the space lady's stole it.

Jeez. I hope those broads never have to back the ISS up - nothing in orbit will be safe!
Damn astronettes strike again! This isn’t the first tool bag that’s been dropped by an astronette, either.
I guess technically she didn’t lose it. NASA knows exactly where it is. |
Fuck, I have to tether ALL my tools on an 8’ ladder, including my 2 pound mini sledge. With a 6’ lanyard, because it has to be tethered to the ladder, and good luck swinging it with a 3’ lanyard. Perfect length to bounce, swing, and catch someone right in the nuts as they walk by. Makes sense, don’t it? It’s even better with a hammerdrill, which is heavy enough to pull your ladder over and take you with it. SAFETY!
But these brainless fuckheads get to go EVA with $100,000 tools supplied by friggin’ NASA without tying them off, and fucking drop them in outer-fucking-space, without being immediately and summarily fired? Yup, life ain’t fair. |
That will be tragic if they don’t have a bag to match their shoes.
A bag of tools whistling along at 18,000 mph. What could go wrong?
