| The absolutely best way to see this movie is on the big screen while you are sitting in the front of the theater. Yes I'm old enough to have seen it that way when it first came out. Ben-Hur is awesome on the big screen too. Also old enough to have seen the first James Bond movie that way too. Oh crikey. I'm old enough to remember Thunder Road when it first came out. Got to go now. Time to "Duck and Cover". |

I remember seeing this when it was in the theater... That explains why you remember what a Grand National is too. I remember watching Smokey & the Bandit in a drive-in theater when I was a kid. ![]() I was real little when smokey came out but my parents took us to see it too....thats about the ealiest movie I can remember though. I hate being this age...ARFCOM seems to be mostly 20 somethings.

(and sore muscles) we are both almost the same age...I can't bring myself to say it out loud here but were close.I wish I knew then what I know now...lots of things would have been done differently. |

yep...only get one chance at this and we all screw it up somehow...I can't complain too much though, lots of people fucked up worse than me. |

Not her face though. she's never been sexual to me...kinda like Audrey Hepburn in that regard, she looks much better with bangs in that space movie she made with Tim Allen a few years ago...it was a comedy. |

Quoted: Quoted: I thought it had been? The real question is when Fox is going to get their head out of their collective ass and release Aliens on BD ![]() Nope. Been rumors of the quadrilogy being released at some point since earlier this year, but I still have yet to see a release date. But Fox is notorious for sucking on this front, as well as for releasing shitty sub-standard sequels to great franchises... I give you Alien3, Alien Resurrection, AvP, AvP2... bleh I'm hoping the delay is because they're actually taking the time to do a new transfer rather than just converting the old transfer - they've been known to take the lazy approach with the previous BD releases of Predator, etc. |
|
Quoted:
Agreed, those are some shitty movies there....i wasn't impressed at all with the Raiders of the lost ark DVD...I don't think thats FOX but it still looked not much better than VHS.

Then they made the 4th one.......absolutely unforgiveable. I try to pretend it doesn't exist. |

Well they may reboot the series as is rumored - http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=24916 Although I have high hopes with Ridley producing, it's not a reboot and rather the origin tale fans have been asking for decades. I'd be shocked if Fox went the smart route on it, but if Ridley is involved, then I at least have a small glimmer of hope. Alien3 is the worst of the bunch IMHO. Resurrection has moments that I like, but the ending is horrendous. In my estimation, killing off Newt and Hicks in 3 was just stupid. There was a script floating around (forget who wrote it) that had them come back to Earth and fighting the aliens here, which seemed much more interesting on paper. I've wanted an origin story since I was a kid, explaining the ship on LV426, the big space jockey pilot guy, etc. That has a lot of potential. But the franchise would be a lot better off at any other studio. |

Oh and I don't really blame Fincher for the disaster that is Alien 3... Fox is fully to blame for that clusterfuck: http://filmonic.com/art-v-commerce-david-finchers-alien-3-nightmare |

While I agree it has potential it could also go collassally wrong, part of what makes that whole LV426 scene so intriguing is the mystery of it. I am not sure they can do that type of story justice but I am still anxious to see what is done with it.

But if anything, Alien 3 served as a definitive ending for the series. Resurrection was just plain fucking retarded. Cloning memories is impossible, the whole storyline was preposterous. |

I am not sure they can do that type of story justice but I am still anxious to see what is done with it. With Fox still ultimately in control of the franchise, no matter who is directing and producing, your worry of it going catastrophically wrong is justified ![]() They have a fairly long history of screwing with their directors and of trying to do everything on the cheap, with no real thought to preserving the integrity of the story or with much thought on how they will affect the future of a franchise by releasing a shitty movie. I give you Die Hard 4 that they cut to get a PG-13 rating. What John McClane fans wanted a PG-13 Die Hard movie? None that I know of. But they did it in the hope of getting more kiddies in the theater to see a shitty watered down Die Hard movie. Bad decisions abound at 20th Century Fox, sadly. |

Quoted:
Yes, die hard 4 sucked and it reminds me of what Cameron did with a Terminator that doesn't kill...what kind of PC shit was that? and they stuck with that for the third film as well. I could go on and on with this conversation. its rare that anything decent gets made anymore as hollywood constantly goes for the big buck making drivel like 2012. frustrating.Quoted:

Cloning memories is impossible, the whole storyline was preposterous. Pretty much - like I said it has moments that I like. Mainly those moments involve Michael Wincott and Ron Perlman. Winona Ryder is always nice to look at too, even if I find her character incredibly annoying. |

its okay...I liked 'the day after tommorow' better, it dragged in some spots, made no sense in others and just seemed to throw too much at you too fast for coherence. Go to a matinee if you have to see it. don't waste 9.75 like I did, The worst part of any film from emmerich is his annoyingly cliched characters.
