| The absolutely best way to see this movie is on the big screen while you are sitting in the front of the theater. Yes I'm old enough to have seen it that way when it first came out. Ben-Hur is awesome on the big screen too. Also old enough to have seen the first James Bond movie that way too. Oh crikey. I'm old enough to remember Thunder Road when it first came out. Got to go now. Time to "Duck and Cover". |

I remember watching Smokey & the Bandit in a drive-in theater when I was a kid. I was real little when smokey came out but my parents took us to see it too....thats about the ealiest movie I can remember though. I hate being this age...ARFCOM seems to be mostly 20 somethings.

Nope. Been rumors of the quadrilogy being released at some point since earlier this year, but I still have yet to see a release date. I give you Alien3, Alien Resurrection, AvP, AvP2... bleh Alien 3 wasn't THAT bad, and it did have an ending that should have forever shut the door on any sequels. Well they may reboot the series as is rumored - http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=24916 Although I have high hopes with Ridley producing, it's not a reboot and rather the origin tale fans have been asking for decades. I'd be shocked if Fox went the smart route on it, but if Ridley is involved, then I at least have a small glimmer of hope. Alien3 is the worst of the bunch IMHO. Resurrection has moments that I like, but the ending is horrendous. In my estimation, killing off Newt and Hicks in 3 was just stupid. There was a script floating around (forget who wrote it) that had them come back to Earth and fighting the aliens here, which seemed much more interesting on paper. I've wanted an origin story since I was a kid, explaining the ship on LV426, the big space jockey pilot guy, etc. That has a lot of potential. But the franchise would be a lot better off at any other studio. |

But if anything, Alien 3 served as a definitive ending for the series. Resurrection was just plain fucking retarded. Cloning memories is impossible, the whole storyline was preposterous. |

With Fox still ultimately in control of the franchise, no matter who is directing and producing, your worry of it going catastrophically wrong is justified They have a fairly long history of screwing with their directors and of trying to do everything on the cheap, with no real thought to preserving the integrity of the story or with much thought on how they will affect the future of a franchise by releasing a shitty movie. I give you Die Hard 4 that they cut to get a PG-13 rating. What John McClane fans wanted a PG-13 Die Hard movie? None that I know of. But they did it in the hope of getting more kiddies in the theater to see a shitty watered down Die Hard movie. Bad decisions abound at 20th Century Fox, sadly. |

Winona Ryder is always nice to look at too, even if I find her character incredibly annoying. |
