Wife needs some help, and I'm math dumb!! We can't figure these out though they seem pretty simple. X^4-16 X^2-4 and Z^3-125 Z-5 |
Been awhile but I'll give it a try... x^4-16 factors into (x^2+4)(x^2-4), so youll end up with: (x^2+4)(x^2-4) x^2-4 Factor out a x^2-4 from the top and bottom and you end up with your answer of x^2+4. screwed up the 2nd one, don't remember how to factor out the x^3-125.. |

I'm totally dumb when it comes to algebra but i just got a 92% on my Quantitive Reasoning test today! When i am trying to teach myself a concept, i find this link helpful. Webmath |
First problem - factor the numerator to (x^2+4)(x^2-4) and then divide. Result:x^2+4 Second problem - edited to add - see giggetty's sol'n above. |
