I know how you feel OP. I went to Comic Con and saw a guy who was CLEARLY not the real Malcolm Reynolds. I shut that shit down in a hurry.

Yes, because a 12 year old wearing MarPat is obviously trying to pass as a Marine.

And how do you know those old bearded guys weren't SEALs in their younger days?  Because they have beards?

Personally, I love seeing these guys kitted out.  Some of their impressions are frigging awesome!

I can't really comment but the full grown men running around in the woods with pre-teens playing SOCOM always struck me as a little queer

I guess it would bother me if they were going around telling people they served when they really didn't.

If they're just dressing up and playing the part and leave the persona on the playing field then meh, I don't really care.

That being said, I know a few mil guys that actually play and heard some LEOs do as well.  The guys I know aren't exactly tier operators, but who knows, there could be some pretty serious dudes out there that decided airsoft was fun for them.

My uncle is a Royal Marine, he does airsoft all the time.

Every time I go to Ireland, he drags me along.

Those guys are fucking hard-core. It's totally fun, I wish I could do it more.

Also, my uncle is younger than I am, so he totally kicks my ass every time I go.

No, there are actually a lot of guys here who don't understand airsoft.  I've never played but I don't hate on a bunch of guys who are more than likely pro-America, pro-2A, pro-Mil.

Except for this guy, he's gh3y as fuck.

Some of the milsim events draw some serious people. Met plenty of real operators. You also get some real posers and low life's in uncertain terms. I got to have fun with plastic bbs at fort hood mout ranges and George Air Force base mout area. There are allot of events held at those places. Got to have fun shooting people with plastic bbs beside Col McKnight and Mad Max Mullen. Two very very badass mil guys that are legends in my book. Two very awesome and down to earth individuals as well.

Airsoft like anything is about what you put into it. If you get a good group of guys and use it for training as much as you realistically can with the downsides of plastic bbs, then it can be both fun and a learning experience. I don't and won't ever claim that airsoft has made me an expert on anything that even gets close to mil training. With that said I have sure learned allot of ways not to tactically do things which I think is very important to the goal of doing things the right way. I have also picked up allot of valuable things and tricks from the hardcore mil guys I've played with. It also gives you good runs on your gear and you really start to realize what works and start to dump the cool looking stuff cause cool looking has noting to do with function. Again you get out of it what you put in. If it's stupid and it works then it's not stupid.
