Hey, GB.

When I hit "Submit" on a thread, I am taken back to that thread.  Since I am the 'latest' post, there is nothing there for me to read, why not take me back to the forum, instead?

It think it might cut some load off your server:

The way it is now:

1.  Load the forum
2.  Load the thread
3.  (if posting a reply) load the thread
4.  (After hitting 'submit) load the thread
5.  close the thread
6.  load the forum

If you took the person back to the forum after submitting a reply, then you save one thread load.

This could reduce 30% of the page loads:

1.  Load the forum
2.  Load the thread
3.  (if posting a reply) load the thread
4.  (After hitting 'submit') close the thread
6.  load the forum

I am not sure how many people 'need' to have the thread remain open after a post.

For instance, when I hit 'Submit' after this post, I have no further need of seeing the post.  I should be directed back to the topic list in the forum.

When you hit the  "Reply" button on one particular post - it now shows the whole list of the entire thread - which is kind of ok - except it no longer automatically quotes the article you're responding to. Now you have to wade through the entire multipage list if you want to copy something and stick it in quotes manualy. Ack!

Maybe I am missing something here, but if you are going to quote a post, shouldn't you be hitting the "Quote" button, not "Reply"?

Wow. Thanks for sneaking that one into the line of buttons TRG. I'm sure it wasn't there before.

We could do this, but most people like to ensure and proof read their posts after posting them... errr maybe that's just me. [=)]

Let's see what people say and go from there.

I like to see how it posted - if using a lot of BBcode its easy to make formating errors that might require an edit to fix.
