I saw this story on Inside Edition today. The fact that the guy was brought up on felony child pornography charges brings my fucking blood to a boil. WHAT CRIME did he commit? What is this country coming to? Was it tasteless? Definitely. Should he have had a charge hanging over his head that could have meant 20 years in jail and a sex offender conviction for it? FUCK NO. The DA and judge should have been strung up by their balls for allowing it to goto trial.

Mr. Emory, 21, an aspiring singer and songwriter, became a household
name here last month when he edited a video to make it appear that
elementary school children in a local classroom were listening to him
sing a song with graphic sexual lyrics. He then showed the video in a
nightclub and posted it on YouTube.

Mr. Emory, who had gotten permission to sing songs like "Lunchlady Land”
for the first graders, waited until the students left for the day and
then recorded new, sexually explicit lyrics, miming gestures to
accompany them. He then edited the video to make it seem as if the
children were listening to the sexual lyrics and making faces in
response.

sounds like they'll end up letting him plead to a non sex offense and give him some weekends in jail

the kid is a little peckerhead even if he is over charged

Ugh... the moral hazards in this thread!

On one hand, I hope 'Artists' of his kind all die in a fire(tm) but on the other hand we are still free to be little peckerheads in America.

I can't fucking believe that this went to trial.... Didn't the detectives interview the staff or custodians that would have been necessary to make the video to straighten things out?

IIRC he has to do 60 days in jail but is currently out on bail. I can't remember if he'll have to register as a sex offender. It wasn't a song about sex with kids. It was a raunchy song no worse than any of the rap shit that is on the radio or blasting from your average ghetto car these days.

While I don't agree with child porn charges based on what the news article explains, I feel it isn't right to record individuals and then use the recording to promote yourself in a video without permission of those that you recorded.  That includes letting the individuals know what the recording will be when permission is obtained.

We did that to death here. I tracked down the statute in question, and it does not begin to address the video. That is to say, what is done on the video is not prohibited by the statute. If the prosecution moves ahead, that guy will get rich off a crappy home-made film.

Some of this "sexual offender" stuff has gotten out of control.

Charge the guy for littering for spreading that garbage around but not child porn.
