Let me start by saying that I have been having excruciating pain in my right arm for 2 months.

Well, I finally got to see a Dr. about my arm.
Turns out that the last Dr.
(whom I am no longer seeing) was totally off
about me just having tendonitis.
(due to Insurance Co. policy I had to wait 30 days after changing Dr's to see a new one or I would have to foot the bills)

The Specialist that I saw on Friday told me that it's Nerve Damage
and with continued use and no treatments other that Advil and Ice I would have lost use of my arm in about 6 months.
This also explains why Advil,Tylenol, Aleve and ice were having no effect on my pain.

I am going to have a nerve block (epidural is closest to compare) once a week
till otherwise told. Yee haw, get to lose use of my arm anyway but hopefully it will be recoverable.

Anyway,

I went to the Hosp. for x-rays.

While sitting there waiting to go into the
X-ray room,
I had some KOOKY lady sit down next to me and tell me that "she wanted to("should") blow herself up and kill everyone around her, and if it's good enough for 10 year olds it ought to be good enough for her"

All I could think was, aawww crap I knew I shouldn't have left my gun in the truck.
(I have a CCW permit.)
(Luby's Cafe in Texas running through my mind)

I quickly stated that I didn't think that it was a good idea and she should not,
and then I repeated myself, a little louder.
Choosing my words carefully.

30 seconds later they called my name and I jumped up and moved as fast as I could get my feet moving.

She was not there when I was done. So I left.
When I got home, the reality of the situation dawned on me .

I really should have gotten security but I didn't take her seriously as she was all gowned up and obviously had no weapons.
She was hispanic in her mid 50's I'd guess.

(I am hispanic as well so not meant as a slam)

A different time and place, and I don't think that I would have disregarded the comment.

Though now I do regret not, at least getting an "Overseer" and then letting them handle it.

So, what would you armchair commandos have done?

I probably would have been so taken aback by the situation I would have done what you did. Beat feet and wonder later why I didn't do something else. [:\]

I probably would have done the same thing.

You could have raised an eyebrow and said:

"I'll kill you if you'd like" [}:D]

I really wanted to look her dead in the eye and tell her succinctly that "Hopefully there would be someone sitting next to her with a gun, that would shoot her in the face before she could detonate her bomb".

But I thought that might be unwise.

I was not the only person sitting there when she said it.

My luck, only my words would have been heard and I would have been doin all the explaining to the Overseers.

Different place, different conditions and
I might have reacted differently.

It's possible she could be suffering from dementia.  My wife's grandmother had parkinson's related dementia until she died, and to say she lead a very active imagined life would be an understatement.  She was a WWII vet, and always kept saying that she was in line to be put to the wall to be killed.  She did that for a long time and always came back to it.

Remember the Alamo, and God Bless Texas...

Go see a neurosurgeon about the pain.  I had the exact same thing happen to me.  Vicidin took care of the pain.  Turns out I had a herniated disk in my neck.  MRI showed the nerve exposed.  Fortunate;y, with some therapy, It has subsided so I won't need to have my neck fused, but the nerve damage was about 60%, hoping it will recover, but I lost some ability to rotate my wrist.

Anyway, make sure to see a neurosurgeon.

1) Since the woman was gowned, she was probably there as a patient for treatment.  IMHO you should call the hospital and try to get her identified so that security can look into her and evaluate whether she is a real threat.

2) What is the problem with your arm?  My brother recently had a section of a nerve in his elbow "relocated" to relieve pressure on it (they cut around it without severing it (of course!), moved it, and stitched the surrounding tissue into the new location).  The pressure was causing numbness, pain, and loss of function in his forearm and hand.  The surgery is apparently straightforward and reliable.

My damaged nerves are in my elbow area.
Hopefully it will not require surgery.

Double feed, I agree with your last statement.

My initial thought after awww sheiite, was that she was looking for attention.

Hospitals draw them all...  I was waiting to check in at a local hospital last year, when a (known to me) registered pedophile came into the ER to be seen...

I noticed that he was accompanied by a 8-9 year old boy, so I used the ER phone to call TPD... Since he was off probation and not doing anything illegal to the boy at the time, the could take no action against him but did remove the boy and return him to his grandmother...

I spoke to him after the cops left and he told me he was there due to a "sore butt"...  Wonder how that happened...

Seriously, what is the nerve block going to do to alleviate anything but the pain?  Will it stop or reverse the damage?

At least in my brother's case, it was minor surgery with very little risk and it worked perfectly for him.  Do consider it if your doc suggests it.

Best of luck to you.

I wonder why you had the need to add that statement. Have we become so PC that we have to clarify a legitimate statement of description??
If you were white would it be a racist statement??
