A.J. Foyt attacked by bees
August 8, 2005

HOUSTON (AP) -- A.J. Foyt was able to go to his office Monday, just two days after being stung by nearly 200 bees at his ranch in Hempstead, Texas.

Foyt spokeswoman Anne Fornoro told The Associated Press that the 70-year-old, four-time Indianapolis 500 winner was driving a bulldozer Saturday, clearing brush, when he apparently stirred up a nest of bees. She said Foyt jumped off the bulldozer and started to run for a nearby stream, but he tripped and the bees swarmed onto him.

He was stung dozens of times on the face and upper body before finally scrambling into the water.

Fornoro said a man working nearby called 911. Foyt was treated at the scene, but refused a trip to the hospital.

"He says he was stung in the mouth, the ears, the throat, all over his face and that his eyes are really swollen, but he's doing OK," Fornoro said.

Foyt is owner of an Indy Racing League team with his grandson, A.J. Foyt IV, as the driver.

Since when was AJ in F1?

Gee, it couldn't have happened to a bigger douche. Did the bees all die off due to alcohol poisening?

How is retiring "falling"? Personally, I'd like to have enough land to justify owning a bulldozer, and then be able to afford and buy one (probably paid by check). Sounds to me like he's living life.

It's called humor with a splash of irony. Try some with a cold Iron City Light. Makes the IC Lite go down better.

Careful CSBR,

You wouldn't want to offend the "Real" race fans here.

The dozer has been AJ's way of working off steam for years. As pissed off as he has been since he retired from driving I bet there ain't a tree left on his land anywhere.

Because anything that ends with the phrase "attacked by bees" is just plain wild.

I mean....it's just the sound of it:

Dude#1: "Hey, Dude, what happened to youuuu?"

Dude#2: "Dude, I was attacked.....by beeeeesss"

Dude#1: "DUDE!!!"

Dude#2: "Yeahhhh"

and it's always better than:

Dude#1: "Hey, Dude, what happened to youuuu?"

Dude#2: "Guhhh...attacked by...a....a bear."

Dude#1: "FUCK!!! Are you kidding me? That's AWFUL"

It's just not as humorous, when you look back on it, to have been attacked by a bear.....OR a MONKEY.

He still has enough for his two large airplane hangars and his Hawker and his big Falcon business jets. He ain't hurting but he is a tough old bastard. He can be hard to work with but he has earned his stripes. Those bees didn't know who they were screwing with.

Aire probably brought killer bees from his South American coca fields.
