Two articles.

The squadron will serve as part of the 332nd Air Expeditionary Group, which was reactivated on Nov. 14, according to an Air Force press report. The A-10 Warthog Is Back in Iraq?—?And Just in Time Attack jets prep for war as Ramadi defenders make do without air support The low- and slow-flying A-10 Warthog jet is back in the Middle East—seven years after the attack planes withdrew. The prospect of A-10s joining the war against Islamic State was subject to rumors in September, when elements of the Indiana Air National Guard’s 122nd Fighter Wing—which flies the twin-engine A-10—deployed to Southwest Asia. |

Angels on our shoulders.
I will buy a beer anytime anywhere for an a10 pilot for the rest of my life. |

Sorry but ISIS needs a lot more love from the AC130 community. Jus' sayin'.

I wish them luck but. What happens if some [derogatory racial slur removed - Paul] gets lucky and shoots one down?
What resources do we have on the ground to rescue the pilot? Hardly doubt ISIS is beyond beheading one of our pilots on video. Then what? |

What assets do we have on the ground to rescue the pilot was the question? Do you trust the Iraq Army to rescue him? Fly in from Kuwait? Fly off a ship sitting in the Persian Gulf? What's your plan? I just think these things are not well thought out. That's all. |

One of the coolest things I've ever done flying Preds and Reapers was giving an manual, non-LSST talk-on to some Talib an then seeing a Hawg gun run hit exactly on the bad guys. Was f'ing awesome.

Good.
Now wipe them out! I am sick and tired of the existence of ISIS. This "army" couldn't take over Alabama (seriously, the Alabama rednecks and trailer trash would massacre them), but they routed the goddamn Iraqis. This shit has gone on long enough. Bomb them into extinction already dammit!

I just think these things are not well thought out. That's all. Im not really sure what your saying? Are we not going to have air support for our guys on the ground? So whats your plan? Use the drones? I mean this is combat, no one wants any US service men and women hurt, but they are combat soldiers and pilots and the A10 mission is very different than a drones. Personally, I think we should go balls out, total war or nothing at all. We pulled our people out too early and has bitten us in the ass all for political points. This half asses attempt at policing another nation or being part of a wide coalition is a bunch of crap. Unfortunatly our military is in a situation where total annihilation is not allowed because of the progressive leadership, hell they wont even admit we are at war. A10 has a mission that few can match, and the A10 is a solid beast with a proven track record in this very situation. We have ground troops out there fighting in case you have not noticed, are you advocating that we just say, oh sorry, no air support for you because A10 pilots might get shot down? Clairify your points please and give us a alternative. Because other than pull everyone out or sending everyone in niether of which this president has the balls to do. I dont see how we have much of a choice. |

Strafe those fuckers back to the stone age....uh, never mind, they never left the stone age.

Do they still use napalm? If not, now is a good time. Make sure the napalm has pig grease dissolved into the gel.

Why isn't the GAU-8 not on treads is beyond me...
Imagine that gun on armor with 3-4x the ammo as the A-10 rolling down the streets of Tikrit. |

Was going to say R0n had some cool comments in the last a10 thread, but he's here

I'm not much of a war plane buff but I have always thought that the warthog was a bad mam-a-jama along with the AC-130.
Dont get me wrong I think fighter jets are completely awesome too but there is just something I like about brute mean fire power. It makes sense though because I was a lineman in football. |

Interesting. Under what ceiling restrictions though will they be doing it?
Politics and fear of casualties or POWs is definitely going to be factored into operations. |

This is great and all but what's really needed at this point are B-52's and canned sunshine.
