In the past week I have been absolutely apalled at the number of people who are incensed that the AWB expired, yet have no idea what was in the law.

I think we should take every opportunity to educate people.  Ask them questions about what they thought the law did, and then present the facts.

For example, one of the most common misconceptions is that for 10 years nobody could build ARs, AKs, FALs, etc.  They have been led to believe that because of the AWB there were fewer of these guns in circulation, which resulted in a lower crime rate.

The fact is that these guns continued to be built, sans flash suppressor and bayonet lug, and new companies actually sprang up during the ban, so there were MORE guns, yet we still had less crime.

People also think it addressed machine guns.  We all know the truth there.

Some may say that the issue is moot since the sunset, but we have to continue the battle on all fronts to maintain the liberty we have, and, hopefully, restore some more of what has been lost.

Some antis will hold on to their emotionalism, but if we can educate some with facts and reason we will be gaining ground.
