Hey Everyone. Quick qustion. Once the AWB ends would my post ban AR 15 be in the same class as all of the other pre-bans? I just want to make sure before I go get a threaded barrel and collapsable buttstock.  Also, It sounds like it is very likely a new ban will be put in place sometime in future. Do you guys think it would be a decent investment to get a few stripped lowers just to have around?

Have a nice day all!

Send all of your AR's to me for proper disposal.  If you take them out of your home for any other purpose, the BATFE will haul you away!

If the ban expires, it will cease to exist.  It will be as if it had never existed.  It can never be resurrected.  Any new ban would be that - new with new parameters.

Other than the pessimistic nay-sayers here (many of which are probably sitting on a cache of preban ARs and feeling the heat), I haven't heard anything to that effect.  The usual suspects (Chucky, Diane, etc.) are always spouting filth about gun control and bans, but what actual talk is there of a new ban??  If we take another 9-11 like hit, and you will see gun control STAY on the back burner where it belongs.  Many people suddenly feel vulnerable and are feeling the need to have the means to defend themselves and I believe gun control will be a low lying issue for some time.

Hopefully W gets reelected and we will have at least another four years of freedom from our rights being infringed upon.

This may seem kinda weird but if Bush is reelected we will have a much higher chance of getting Hillary Clinton as president for 2008.  People will be sick of the Conservative Republican presidents and will be wanting some Democrat; Hillary is planning on running for president in 2008.  Hillary will be slaughtering our gun rights.

What I want to know is what the hell are we going to call Post-Bans after the ban...

Will these be Post-Post-Bans?

If a new ban comes in 2005 with another grandfather clause, will we refer to these as Pre-Second-Ban-Post-First-Ban rifles?

Better yet, how long is it going to take for us to get tired of this same topic before we put together a FAQ?

After it expires, the ban will be known as "the dark time".  Hopefully, there shall never be another dark time and we will not have to worry about what to call it.

Any possible Republican on the horizon for 2008 that will be somewhat more emphatic about protecting our RKBA than W's wishy-washy "if it makes it to my desk, I'll sign it"?  I voted for him and will do so again, but he's no friend of our 2nd Amendment rights.

What about Rick Santorum?  I heard him on the Senate floor one day and he was quite impressive.  I think he is a Republican from PA.

To give you a simple, direct, and accurate answer to your question:

YES.

Configure it any way you like, after the ban ends.    Except for full auto or short barreled (<16") configurations, anything goes.    Short barrels are OK if you get the SBR tax stamp.
